{{helpme}} Dragonfly SixtySeven has been a great help and I went to the tutorial(s) mentioned - however, and I apologize in advance but I don't understand how to add pictures to an article. I regret that I am not up to speed but any step-by-step help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Images in Articles

Ericdohio: To add an image to an article, just use syntax like this: [[Image:NameofImage.ext]]. For example, if you wanted to add an image called MyCoolImage.jpg to an article, you would just add [[Image:MyCoolImage.jpg]].

Thanks so much for the info on the pictures - it worked!!!!! I must ask however, the image is HUGE on the page - is there a way to thumbnail it? Please advise and thanks again!!!!! Ericdohio 02:38, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Ericdohio: To make an image thumbnail, use this: [[Image:NameOfImage.ext|right|thumb|Caption below Image]] The parts of it are pretty self explanatory, but just in case, it is Name of Image, then alignment, then you say you want to thumbnail it, then you put the Caption. --Cmelbye 02:43, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

To address your various points:

yes, you've definitely done a service to Wikipedia with your article. You did quite well for a beginner.

As for how to do hyperlinks from your article to pre-existing articles, and how to make your footnotes link to your endnotes - I suggest you read How to Edit a Page and the tutorial.

As for the images you wish to upload - documents produced by the Japanese occupational government are public domain, as they were made >50 years ago. Include the copyright tag {{PD-Japan}}. DS 01:38, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
