April 2010 edit

Thank you for experimenting with the page Barack Obama citizenship conspiracy theories on Wikipedia. Your test worked, and it has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you may want to do. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Here at Wikiepdia, we Wikipedians work by consensus. While consensus can change, the hard work done thus far and verifiable by the existing good sources means that, in this case, it is unlikely to change anytime in the future. My first contribution to the Wikipedia:Home was not intended to be a test, other than hoping that I achieved the proper style and technical accuracy. The "patrolled" response by Bearian, I deemed to be from a bot (of some type) and I automatically re-entered my edit.

The consensus, in my honest and neutral opinion, should be in keeping with Wikipedia's neutral stance, and the use of the word "fringe" (which I did not edit out) and the use of the word "conspiracy" adds a negative slant to what is a political article.

I now also see that Bearian's response to me is considered a (first level warning), are any (though we are encouraged to "Be Bold" on Wikipedia, edits to this article automatically considered malicious? Erelas RyAlcar (talk) 19:57, 14 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Erelas, you are encouraged at WP:BOLD to be bold, but not reckless. We accept the inclusion of articles about notable fringe theories, see WP:FRINGE, but we label them as for what they are. We accept and welcome all viewpoints, but aim not to give any small minority view undue weight, see WP:UNDUE. We can change our views, but rarely, see WP:CCC. Reckless, without reasonable regard for effect, is not the intention of removing the word "Conspiracy" from in front of the word "theory". However, I am a firm believer that reality, without regarding intent, ends up being 90% individual perception. An attempt to remove, or have removed, one word (three instances) from an otherwise untouched article in an effort to give a better presentation of neutrality, hardly seems reckless. Perhaps, I'm too severe, a personal failing, in my understanding of the word "conspiracy" and now the word "reckless". Detante would seem to be in order as 50 years from now, history will, hopefully, bear more towards fact than original research, as defined by WP.Erelas RyAlcar (talk) 22:32, 14 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
