edit

Hello, I'm 3mi1y. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to American Society of Appraisers seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. mi1yT·C 18:40, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, can you please provide the reason why the edits were rejected? The edits included unbiased facts about the organization. Emcgroganasaappraiser (talk) 20:11, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I reverted your edits because the entirety of your new text is written in an overly promotional tone. Please also note that we strongly discourage people from editing articles about subjects they're closely related to, for this exact reason - see the other notice further down this page. mi1yT·C 06:41, 19 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello, we removed any promotional text and adjusted the tone of the description. The original version has many errors and biased opinions. Please let me know if my edit with the removed promotional tone is sufficient. Emcgroganasaappraiser (talk) 16:04, 19 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to American Society of Appraisers. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. mi1yT·C 19:12, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, we did not promote or advertise our organization. What is the number for customer service? Emcgroganasaappraiser (talk) 20:12, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
The original content was heavily biased and included some misinformation and personal opinions about the organization. Please see the reviewed submission. Thanks. Emcgroganasaappraiser (talk) 20:42, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, Emcgroganasaappraiser. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. mi1yT·C 18:40, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Hello, I understand my account was blocked due to the use of over promotional sounding text. My intention was to correct misinformation and biased opinions in the original version and add information on what membership to this organization entails. The final version that I submit was stripped of any promotional or favorable sounding language, but it was still flagged for its use of over promotional language. If possible, I would like to talk with someone who is able to review my text before I submit, that way I can ensure it does not have any promotional copy or opinions. Emcgroganasaappraiser (talk) 15:21, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

You haven't complied with the paid editing policy and haven't been editing in accordance with the conflict of interest policy. You also don't seem to understand that the main purpose of a Wikipedia article is to summarize what independent reliable sources say about a topic, not what it says about itself. You'll need to demonstrate an understanding of these policies before we can consider unblocking you. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 16:00, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
