Hi. The term Maronite Catholic is widely used. I suggest you google Maronite Catholic Church and see the interesting results. There are Parish all around the world all known as Maronite Catholic Churches. Please click on the link below. The article will give you some detailed background about the Maronites. http://www.cnewa.us/default.aspx?ID=56&pagetypeID=9&sitecode=US&pageno=1 The Maronites are Catholic but their rites are slightly different to the Roman Catholic Church. When you have done your digging, let me know. I am sure you will discover that I am right, maybe even infallible:)

Carlos Slim edit

Hi, I have just changed your edit at Carlos Slim where you changed Maronite Christian to Maronite Catholic. Technically, you are correct but in the real world I think you will find that most people do not use your term but rather the one that was already stated. I'll do some digging on this and I am happy to admit my mistake if it turns out that way - it is an interesting observation! Thanks for doing what you did and feel free to push your point as I am certainly not always right. I don't think that even the Pope is called infallible nowadays (did that idea not go out in the 1960s?) ... and I ain't the Pope! - Sitush (talk) 00:14, 11 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Please will you discuss this. Yet again you have substituted "Catholic" for "Christian". If you do some digging around you will find that the more usual term is the latter, and it has been in the article for some time. If you think otherwise then provide the evidence please. - Sitush (talk) 11:07, 11 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Update, using Google Scholar - Catholic (276 hits), Christian (1,060 hits). - Sitush (talk) 11:11, 11 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Hi, I do not think that you are doing yourself any favours with your continued edits to this article. Right or wrong, the fact that you are refusing to engage in a discussion when the terminology & the introduction of Lebanese ethnicity into the lead of the article are both moot points is counter-productive. I notice that you have also had issues with another article and the cumulative effect is that you are getting quite close to being blocked for "disruptive editing". Can we please talk about this without further disruption on the article itself. I have explained my position but have heard no explanation from you. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 01:27, 13 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I edited the lead of the article about Carlos Slim and you deleted my edit. I have no problem to engage in a discussion on this now that you have posted this message. You mention that the introduction of Lebanese ethnicity into the lead of the article is a moot point. Unfortunately I do not agree with you. Carlos Slim is originally Lebanese and emirgrated to Mexico at the age of 14. The first 14 years of his life were in Lebanon where he was born. He has lived in Mexico for the last 57 years of his life and is a Mexican National. Although he is a Mexican citizen, Arabic is his mother tongue and he claims to be of Lebanese origin. He was in Lebanon 18 months ago and visited his village and extended family who he his in contact with. As you will appreciate they are proud of his success. Although you may see this as a moot point people in Lebanon and in particular his village and extended family do not. With regards to his religion, he is an Maronite and belongs to what is known as the Maronite Catholic Church. If you do some research you will realise that the Holy see (Vatican) refers to the church as the Maronite Catholic Church. The church is in communion with Rome and technically Maronites are Catholics. The Catholic Church preaches the christian religion but has its own dogmas and beliefs that are not necessarily mentioned in the bible like many of the other christian churches. Anyway, the point here is that the church is The Maronite Catholic Church and its followers are known as Maronite Catholics, not Maronite Christians like you mention. Catholics generally refer to themselves as Catholic not Christian. Protestants generally refer to themselves as Christian eventhough both religions are technically Christian(Some Protestant churches would challenge this.) I edited another article and some keeps deleting my edit without contacting me. The information is correct and very interesting. I think the person deleting this information needs to contact me and explain why they are removing this information. The person C.Fred who has deleted the information has blocked my account. He deleted the info without contact me. What do I do? Thanks

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Carlos Slim, you may be blocked from editing. Sorry, I've explained this before and you still refuse to discuss Sitush (talk) 01:23, 13 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

This is your last warning; the next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Carlos_Slim, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Sitush (talk) 01:47, 13 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

I now understand how wikipedia operates. As mentioned it was my first time. Anyway, I want to repeat my point about Maronite Catholic. The church is officialy known as THE MARONITE CATHOLIC CHURCH. When a Maronite is asked about his/her religion they will say Maronite if they are among people who know the religion and will say Catholic or Maronite catholic to those who have not heard of this eastern rite Maronite catholic church. Even the Vatican will confirm the church is known as the Maronite Catholic Church. It is a christian church no doubt and you could argue that since it is a christian religion, why the fuss whether Carlos Slim is Maronite Christian or Maronite Catholic. It is the same when a Catholic person is asked about his/her religion. They will usually say Catholic, rarely will they say Christian. It is indeed a christian church but it is known as the Catholic church and if you are a member of that church you will be known as a Catholic. Likewise, if you are a member of the Maronite Catholic Church you will be known as a Maronite Catholic not Maronite Christian. Please let me know what you think?

Carlos Slim edit

Please, talk. Read all of the above here and engage. If it happens again then you are likely to be blocked permanently from editing Wikipedia, which would be a great shame. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 01:50, 13 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Carlos Slim. Users are expected to collaborate with others and avoid editing disruptively.

In particular, the three-revert rule states that:

  1. Making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to edit war, you may be blocked from editing without further notice.

I recommend that your next step in this situation be to discuss your proposed changes at Talk:Carlos Slim.C.Fred (talk) 01:52, 13 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest edit

Hello, Elietaktouk. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Belgravia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.

The conflict arises from the appearance that you are adding yourself to the list of notable residents.C.Fred (talk) 02:07, 13 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

It is actually not me I am adding.
The information about the Upper Belgrave Street address was both informative and correct yet it was deleted.
Can you explain why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elietaktouk (talkcontribs)
You're not adding information about yourself? Explain this edit, then, where you added the following to the Belgravia article: "entrepreneur Elie Taktouk who lives in Upper Belgrave Street".[embedded URL removed]
Your account is named Elietaktouk. You've added mention of an Elie Taktouk to the article in question. Who is that, if not you? —C.Fred (talk) 17:36, 14 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Blocked edit

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for your disruption caused by edit warring by violation of the three-revert rule. During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. —C.Fred (talk) 02:55, 13 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I have just realised my account has been blocked. I did edit an article with correct and interesting information related to the subject. One of the editors kept deleting it and did not communicate with me. I am new to wikipedia and I did not realise the how it works and that you need to post a message on my talk before re editing. Anyway, point noted. I have now posted a note regards this article and another and will not do any changes until I agree with the editors who disagree with me. I think it is only fair that whoever deleted the information I edited is also warned as they did the same several times and did not communicate with me.

Thanks Elietaktouk (talk) 03:18, 13 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Your block is only for 24 hours. You were warned in advance, and the warnings remain visible above here on this page. Please use the remaining block time to familiarise yourself with wikipedia editing and communication techniques. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 12:19, 13 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

  • The block was primarily for your edit to Carlos Slim. Note that you made three intervening edits to Belgravia—which you were warned about above as well—after I gave you the three-revert-rule warning above. The "You have new messages" message would have been at the top of your screen well before you made the last revert to Carlos Slim.
Why did you not reply to the series of messages on your talk page up to the point you were blocked? —C.Fred (talk) 03:38, 13 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
