Rollback request

edit

I know you've patrolled and contributed to the literary genre article. There appears to be multiple vandalism edits recently by an anonymous user. Would you consider performing a rollback? Thanks! --Junius49 (talk) 13:59, 10 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much for informing me. I missed a vandalism there but hopefully another editor noticed it and reverted it. I also rollbacked the recent vandalism. You actually can do this yourself manually. Just view the page history, select the most recent not vandalized version, edit & save! If you need anything else that I can do please tell me! Regards!--Egmontaz talk 14:12, 10 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! I had been wondering about the easiest way to perform a manual rollback. --Junius49 (talk) 16:38, 10 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Severity/duration of user warnings

edit

Hello, Egmontaz

I'm wondering why you gave a Level1 warning to User:168.8.143.236 on hir Talk page when it immediately followed a Level4 from less than 18 hours earlier. "This is the final warning you will receive..." can't be too impressive if it's followed shortly by a "Welcome to Wikipedia." Or do you disagree?

I'm wondering what folks generally use as the duration of user notices like these. If I find vandalism on a page from a frequent vandal who nevertheless hasn't been warned in a few months, I usually don't give higher than a Level2. But within the same month or week, I tend to stay at their last warning's level or go up one. But I've seen different people apply different approaches, and it's not always clear. So what's your criteria for starting over? Thanks (answer, if you will, here or on my Talk, your choice). — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 07:28, 11 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello JohnFromPinckney!
Well the truth is I didn't decide the level! I use huggle most of the time, I only chose whether to warn or not and then the levels are autoselected by huggle. Anyway, my criteria (when I do this manually) are just the same for IPs, you can't tell even a day later if this is the same user with the last vandal. The case you mention is a school IP so even hours later it could be a different user. In the case of a registered user then my criteria are would be probably the same as yours (but as I said before, I usually don't do this manually, so it's huggle's decision). Regards! --Egmontaz talk 08:10, 11 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Cool, thanks for your input! I haven't used huggle, so I don't know much about it. I just started using Twinkle, which not only makes some things easier and faster but also makes it harder to see what I'm doing in advance. It's good, though, because it makes me much more careful and thoughtful about notices and reversions. Regards — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 08:20, 11 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
You are welcome! I also started with twinkle, I still use it sometimes in special cases. Get some experience in countervandalism and then I suggest you ask for rollback and/or start using Huggle. Regards. --Egmontaz talk 08:33, 11 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I will be back... That is all.

Good job though, you're not as slow as I recall you RCPs being. Tomorrow I plan use IP Ranges from: 71.114.0.55-71.114.2.92, you might want to note that down.

Enjoy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.148.194.43 (talk) 13:53, 11 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

The only thing you have to do is replace everything in that page with #REDIRECT [[User talk:MyPersonalWiki100]]. Regards. --Egmontaz talk 07:39, 19 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
