Potty language edit

Howdy and welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed your edits on the Potty language article. I took the liberty of redirecting to Profanity, since the content seemed similar. It looks like an admin, User:DakotaKahn, deleted the original page which you subsequently recreated. I'm not sure of her reasons (you may certainly ask her on her talk page), but I think it is better as a redirect. I am, of course, happy to discuss it on the article talk page if you disagree. In any event, many thanks for the work on Wikipedia, and again, welcome. --TeaDrinker 01:54, 16 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

is this the way DakotaKahn treats new contributors?
that was about as friendly as a smack in the face.
who is she to call it patent nonsense, and what does that even mean, anyway?
eelevy
Thanks for the note. I'm sure DakotaKahn meant no offense (in fact, in my experience she is one of the kinder admins). The "patent nonsense" tag was put on as the criteria to be deleted, although I certainly don't think it actually fit the definition. I should note that it was not DakotaKahn who added that tag; she deleted the article, but another user added the tag. I suspect it was more a case of people working to fast to fight vandalism (a continual problem here). I apologize for the confusion. Thanks, --TeaDrinker 02:10, 16 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
I should also add that the material you wrote is still here, if you think it could be incorporated into another article, or if you think "Potty language" should be in a seperate article. Thanks, --TeaDrinker 02:13, 16 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello again. You should be careful not to disrupt Wikipedia to make a point (see WP:POINT); edits like this are not helpful. Honest mistakes are made. I am more than happy to discuss it further if you think it would be necessary, but I'm not sure what else can be done. Thanks, --TeaDrinker 02:52, 16 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Howdy again, good suggestions on Wikipedia talk:Vandalism. I have taken the liberty of moving your comments to the bottom of the page (where new comments are usually posted). On talk pages, you can sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~). You're right that one of the things we don't do well is managing deletions. With more help, perhaps we can improve on this. Thanks again for the work, --TeaDrinker 03:25, 16 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
