Kayengona village

Kayengona is situated in Kavango region,in Rundu Rural Constituency. Found at eastern side of Rundu Its about 15Km away from Rundu. The village is under ruled by Shambyu traditional authority under a Qeen Angelina Matumbo Libebe.Kayengona have small suburbs such as mayana, Uvhungu -vhungu and Rutwau villages.Schoools found in Kayengona village are :Kayengona combined school,Mayana Primary School, Uvhungu-vhungu combined school and Maria Mwengere S.S.S.Councillor, Michael Shikongo,was elected to be a Councillor of the Shambyu Traditional Authority at Kayengona village. The palace of queen also situated at Kayengona village.

Sambyu traditional Authority History

Kayengona was already occupied by the Bushmen/sun people and the approximately 200,000 years ago. The present people, the Shambyu, only arrived in the region during the 19th century. They lived in the Cwito Kubango, an area near the Cwito river, which is situated in the current Northern-part of Angola and some were dispersed to mashi-region, an area near the kwando river, which is situated in the current South-Western Zambia.Ancestors of the Shambyu moved from the Manyo valley to the Mashi region in the early 19th century. Then Gririku tribe were intervene they discover Kavango River and conflict developed among them because neighboring communities and as a result of hunger as well as the experiencing drought in the Mashi region, the Shambyu and the Gciriku decided to migrate in the direction of the promising valley. The Shambyu arrived in the region in two groups, one under the leadership of Nyumba, and the other group was guided by Kapinga, who was later joined and ruled the two groups after death of Chief Nyumba decided to built a palace at Kayengona village where is permanently now.[2].


Development took Place at Kayengona village

Uvhungu-vhungu farming project was established in order to contribute in the economy of Namibia by producing milk,maize and wheat.[3]Construction of school such as Maria Mwengere S.S.S and Kayengona Combined School which helped learners for being not further their education at Rundu.Green schemes was establish next to Uvhungu-vhungu people were allowed to crop any vegetables for they own benefits of their family and government help them with irrigation system. At Kayengona and Mayana Nam water was built to supply clean water to people in the community.school were built with the help tourism came such as Mayana Pre-primary school.A[4] Rural electrical was establish to provide access to electricity of local people lived there.Comments about issue of Kayengona ,as am one of the person who stay there looking forward for our Government to put more development at Kayengona as well at Mayana to avoid high crime at our region and reduce unemployment amongst youth.To continue supply rural electrical on surrounding villages nearby Kayengona.[5] To add on, GRN must constructs building for instance houses,shops and recreation facilities for local people.Finally, i would like to encourage you to come see a beautiful village and witness by your self as an eye witness
