edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Narciso Yepes has been reverted.

Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): \byoutube\.com (links: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=twjff0xegaw). If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file. Video links are also strongly deprecated by our guidelines for external links, partly because they're useless to people with slow internet connections.

If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page.   Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Romance (song) do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.

Welcome from andrewa

edit

Thanks for your comments at my talk page. I hope you'll find Wikipedia a rewarding experience.

It will be a bit challenging. As a friend of the Yepes family, do you know Viktor van Niekerk? He is also a close friend of theirs, it appears, and he shares your concern for defending Yepes' legacy.

Unfortunately, Viktor is currently banned indefinitely from editing here. The specific reason for this is that he was repeatedly rude to other contributors. But there were also more general issues, in that he failed to comply with several Wikipedia basic policies and guidelines, and failed to heed repeated warnings to do so.

We encourage new editors to be bold in their edits. Nobody can be expected to know all Wikipedia's policies and guidelines from the start. But there are rules, and we also expect all editors to respect them.

As background to your research into the article history, I'd encourage you to also read Wikipedia:Five pillars.

More specifically, there are three issues you should consider.

The first and most basic is the question of defending Yepes' legacy. This is a tricky one; Of course if Wikipedia is biased (or worse) against him, we want to correct that. But we don't want to go the other way either. See what Wikipedia is not.

You are definitely doing the right thing in discussing the issues you see on the talk pages.

The second concerns the motives of other contributors. I appreciate that you feel that whoever posted was desperate and that this is a smear campaign, but we avoid discussing such issues here even as a last resort. Instead we concentrate on the content. See Wikipedia:No personal attacks, and note particularly its summary: Comment on content, not on the contributor. Even when discussing whether a user should be blocked or banned, we discuss their specific behaviour rather than speculate on their motives.

The third concerns user talk pages. I have asked you to abide by Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines#Layout when editing my user talk page. You have ignored this request and again posted to the top of the page. Why?

I sincerely welcome you. I am hoping that we can work together with the rest of the Wikipedia community to improve the Yepes article and others such as those on his compositions and innovations, notably of course the ten-string guitar. See below for a specific request to this end.

Concerning the specific issues you raised in your latest post, again I suggest that the article talk page is the place to discuss these. Andrewa (talk) 17:52, 24 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Photograph request

edit

We lack a photograph of Yepes. Preferably, we would like two, one of him playing and the other a more formal portrait. These would greatly enhance the article on him, and one of him playing would also be a very fitting addition to the ten-string guitar aricle. I have tried to obtain suitable photographs and, so far, failed.

And we need them released under a suitable licence for use here. Can you provide anything suitable, and if not, would you be prepared to approach someone, such as the Yepes heirs, who can? Andrewa (talk) 17:54, 24 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
