Hi
You added a 'citation needed' tag in the article analog sound vs. digital sound. The reference is Greenfield et al. 1986. I've rewritten and expanded the relevant section.
Greenfield et al. 1986 mentions how digital recorders are more sensitive to acoustics than analog recorders, and that microphone placement techniques developed for analog recorders weren't necessarily appropriate for digital recorders. I can see that the original revision wasn't entirely clear. I've added in some bits from Greenfield et al. 1990 which specifically talk about benefits and problems with digital remastering. xbox360 audio
editI included a link to the Xbox 360 hardware article on Wikipedia in the edit comments I left in the Video game music article. Did you read it? It details the audio specifications that processing is handled at 32 bit, and the audio sample rate is 48khz @ 16-bit.
Sample rate and processing are not the same.
Here is the actual specification boxes from the official website itself.

Please note the section named AUDIO:
* Multi-channel surround sound output * Supports 48KHz 16-bit audio * 320 independent decompression channels * 32-bit audio processing * Over 256 audio channels
