Some people think this should have a catagory. Some clearly do not. This is a talk page, please use it to present your arguments. - brenneman{T}{L} 11:58, 2 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

For the same reason that there is no "pro-cannabis" or "anti-cannabis" WikiProject. Either one is advocacy, pure and simple. The abuse of templates for this sort of advocacy external to Wikipedia is bad enough, but let's at least keep categories out of it. --MarkSweep (call me collect) 01:56, 4 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
This user believes that only articles need reflect a NPOV, and that displaying political, religious, or other beliefs using userboxes and user categories should not be banned.

MarkSweep has an opinion on the use of templates and categories to declare points-of-view. I disagree with him. This debate is playing out across Wikipedia, and yet is largely unknown to most Wikipedians. Also unknown to most Wikipedians is that a handful of rogue admins have taken it upon themselves to decide what is best for the community and blank templates like this one en masse. There is no need to debate it here. For now this is a page like dozens of others MarkSweep has blanked, and this fight should not have to be fought page-by-page, or with mass blanking, wheel wars or other anti-social activity, all of which is far worse than any theoretical harm posed by Wikipedians by Category and Userboxen. Rather than trust the community to do the right thing, MarkSweep, his confederates and admin sympathizers have waged civil war. --StrangerInParadise 08:25, 4 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
