Questions edit

Hi Dirk, I can't find my edit comments.G77b (talk) 23:14, 5 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi G77b, I did send you a mail because it is easier to include screenshots there. In plain text: When viewing the article you can go to the upper right corner of the screen and click on "View history." Afterwards you will see all the edits ever made in this article with all their edit comments included. (See here:The history of the article "Urban agriculture" Your edits and your edit comments are there as well. -- Dirk Franke (talk) 20:03, 7 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi Dirk,

  • Can I comment on individual edits and change the comments if necessary?
  • How do I deal with a discussion contribution that has been settled?
  • Is there a visual editor for Wikibooks?

Thanks in advance.G77b (talk) 23:31, 7 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hallo G77b,

  • 1 - only indirectly. You have to go the talk page of the article and link the edit from there and talk about it. So, take the URL, put it into the single brackets [ ] and then talk about it. There is no way to comment directly on an edit by somebody else. On your own you can only comment at the moment you are submitting the edit. (The only exception are administrators who can completely delete edit comments but will only do so in a case of a serious rule violation.
  • 2 - The most easiest way and the way most people will do: Just writer under it that it has been settled. If you want to put more emphasis into that you can write the code {{resolved}} onto the discussion and put a comment and your signature behind it. That will display as
      Resolved
. Do not delete anything. This is strongly discouraged. And in case you really want to get into it, you can have a look onto the help page Help:Archiving a talk page. I, personally, would just write: It's fine for me, I consider that settled.
  • 3 - Yes, it is. But as far as I see, you must activate it before you can use it. Go to the top right corner of the page. The part where your name and "talk" and "log out" et cetera is displayed. Click on the tab "Beta". A new page will open. Then check the "Use visual editor" and save. I'll send you a mail with screenshots as well. -- Dirk Franke (talk) 12:58, 10 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi Dirk,

  • Thank you very much for the helpful answers.
  • BTW: the whole course was very inspiring and informative.

Thanks again, G77b (talk) 21:09, 10 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

What's happening? edit

Hi Dirk Franke,

curiously looking at a false positive AIV bot report and Special:Contributions/Aquakulturinfo, may I ask what's happening here?

I'd ask about paid editing or conflicts of interest, but if I see correctly, you are knowledgeable about these subjects.

If I see correctly, the topic will be the creation of biographies – of living or deceased persons? Is there any connection between the participants and the planned biography subjects?

Do you intend to use the English Wikipedia's WP:AFC process?

To add a cheeky/thought-provoking question to the list, which practical English-Wikipedia-related experience would you like to share with the participants?

Thanks and best regards,
