Jak and Daxter Edits

edit

Hello, just wanted to let you know that several of your edits have been undone in regards the Jak and Daxter series. You have gone against a reached consensus on several occasions, and refused to acknowledge any of the guidelines that have been set out for you i.e. Start a new discussion on the talk page, and if other users partake and a new consensus is reached, then the changes you wish to make can be made active without any dispute. Although in this case it is unlikely to change as The Lost Frontier is deemed a main title in the series. Also if you briefly describe your edits in the edit summary it makes cooperation a lot easier, and better benefits the article as a whole. Thanks. - An Unexpected Journey (talk) 15:14, 27 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

The Lost Frontier is not part of the original trilogy of Naughty Dog, later compiled in the HD Collection. It is a spinoff developed by High Impact Games first time only for PSP which later was adapted for PS2, without the same gameplay of the trilogy. In fact there have been several concepts arts of Naughty Dog with the title: JAK 4.[1]
Hi, please try and keep the discussion to the respective section where it was initiated, as opposed to opening two separate articles of dialogue in different user Talk Pages, as it makes it hard to keep track of the discussion. Signing your name is also helpful to others so they can easily see who has commented and so on. If you are going to cite gameplay elements as a reason, then by that reasoning The Precursor Legacy could just as easily be cited as not being part of the the main series due to the overhaul in gameplay made in Jak II, and so on. The games disinclusion in the remastered release also doesn't stand as a valid point, as The Lost Frontier marks a new chapter within the main series that continues their main story arc, not a small side story for the player to witness. And as you stated yourself, it was a remastering of the original trilogy, of which this game isn't. It was a new story in the main series that was being told. The fact that it was handled by different developers and was originally intended for release only on the PSP doesn't diminish it's standing in the main series i.e. The console it was released on the be playable has no affect on whether a game is canon or not, just look at the Legand of Zelda series for a better understanding of how this works. As for the source you linked, which had to be translated, it merely shows twoo images with the title Jak 4 in the corner images, which Naughty Dog had considered as the working title for a newly rebooted Jak And Dxater series, though this never happened. A game can still be considered canonical regardless of their titles and numerical sequence. For example, following Assassin's Creed II, Brotherhood and Revelations were released before Assassin's creed III was released, but they are main entries in the series as lacking a numerical title doesn't make them a spin off, and the same is the case with Jak and Daxter. Finally, a consensus has been reached in the Talk Page before regarding this matter, and that is the more appropriate place to discuss this matter. If you discuss the issue there and other editors join in and help reach a new consensus, then the changes can be made with no problem. Your edits were repeatedly undone as they violated this consensus, and you kept making the changes anyway despite several warnings. Plus you've never left a reason in the Summary box, and in your message to me you told me that the game "was" very definitely not part of the main series. It is better that you don't "tell" another editor they are wrong and state that you are right in such blunt terms. Open up a conversation and state your reasons as to "why" you think it isn't part of the main series instead, and debate it out until a satisfactory decision is made, but again the articles talk page would be a more appriopiate place for these discussion, as that is where the belong, and allow other users to contribute too. Upon further investigation, none of the concept art officially released by Naughty Dog feature the title Jak 4, as is present in these photo's, and no main sites refer to the title as Jak 4, but rather a new entry or reboot in the Jak and Daxter series, and Naughty Dog never referred to the game as Jak 4 either, but rather just a reboot of the series. Are this source can be thrown into question, are there any reliable sources that state as such I may have missed ?? The title Jak 4 appears to have been used by a production company in Las Angeles called Scribble Pad Studios for the design s they created, while the concept images designed by Naughty Dog themselves don't feature any such titles or logos. And again, the once possible existence of a game that may or may not have been called Jak 4 doesn't affect or dictate the statues of The Lost Frontier as a main entry in the series. - An Unexpected Journey (talk) 23:20, 28 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
