Welcome! edit

Hello, Dharmap1, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Dhammika Dharmapala, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms our use and policy on paid editing.

December 2018 edit

Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Dhammika Dharmapala, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. Thank you.   Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates, or other materials from Wikipedia without adequate explanation, as you did at Dhammika Dharmapala, you may be blocked from editing. Thank you. Jebcubed (talk) 16:13, 18 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Dhammika Dharmapala. Jebcubed (talk) 16:14, 18 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Not only is your edit not minor, but you're removing information which is sourced to a newspaper. If you are going to remove it, you need to demonstrate that the newspaper made an error—ideally by providing other sources that provide updated information. —C.Fred (talk) 16:16, 18 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
I have been trying to correct incorrect biographical information from this page. It appears that the author made unwarranted inferences from a newspaper article (the article exists, but the information is dubious and unrelated to the theme of tax havens, where the article is located). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dharmap1 (talkcontribs) (copied here from User talk:C.Fred)
The article is about the subject, who was involved in an auto accident the victim of an attack that was covered in the news. It mentions his age. Please explain why this biographical information is deemed dubious. —C.Fred (talk) 16:23, 18 December 2018 (UTC) amended 16:34, 18 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
The newspaper article may be about the subject, but it does not repot an auto accident, but that the subject was the victim of a hate-motivated crime. This is irrelevant to the topic of tax havens, and publicizing the incident and the subject's ethnicity may expose the subject to further danger. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dharmap1 (talkcontribs)
It appears multiple other editors disagree with you about that. You should discuss the matter at the article's talk page and build consensus about whether to change the article. Further, given your username, you need to disclose your relationship to the subject. —C.Fred (talk) 16:32, 18 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

I am the subject of this article, and would like to edit it to remove an incidental reference to a newspaper article on a hate-motivated crime suffered by the subject. This information is irrelevant to the topic of tax havens, and publicizing the incident and the subject's ethnicity may expose the subject to further danger. Please approve any future edits along these lines - thank you.

I suggest you contact the Volunteer Response Team via email. They are in the best position both to verify your identity and to remove the information if they feel it is appropriate in this circumstance. —C.Fred (talk) 16:57, 18 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you - I will try this.
