Speedy deletion nomination of Alison Chitty
editYou may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
A tag has been placed on Alison Chitty requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
at the top of the article, immediately below the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate), and providing your reasons for contesting on the article's talk page, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
You may want to read the guidelines for specific types of articles: biographies, websites, bands, or companies. Cheers! ► Wireless Keyboard ◄ 13:56, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
Opera designers
editHi. Looks as if you've had a baptism of fire hereabouts, but you seem to have picked yourself up. I've added a few links to Alison Chitty, plus a DEFAULTSORT. I see that you've discovered the various "List of operas performed by ..." that I created (a first Glyndebourne Festival Opera list is next), and I'd be delighted if you could add articles about any designers that you see in the lists who need articles. A few from Wexford that took my eye can be found at the top of Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Opera (Alison C was one, but she turned blue so I removed her), but there are more in the other lists. Join the Project if you're interested - most of us write about operas and singers rather than designers, who are very under-represented in Wikipedia.
On Alison Chitty, I have a not-very-recent Who's Who in British Opera, which has an entry for her, so I'll add a bit more detail. And when you're creating new articles, it's best to use a sandbox subpage (e.g. Designfanboy/Sandbox - I have several of them with various names) so that you can avoid the speedy deletionists by not putting articles into public space until they show the subject's notability and already contain blue links and categories and so on. The Show Preview button below the Editing box is handy for checking links etc.
Feel free to ask me for help if you have a problem. I'm doing Wikipedia things most days. Best. --GuillaumeTell 18:35, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
