Yeah, those Panther-platform cars are pretty awesome. You can still buy a new Grand Marquis or Town Car, but if you look at Ford's website, the Crown Vic is now fleet-only. To buy one, you'd have to go through a fleet manager! Too bad, too. That's the best basic large car on the market. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 02:32, 20 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Great story. My friend's car was an Oklahoma State Police supervisor's car, so it didn't have the cage and it wasn't beat to death. My son had trouble finding one that didn't have the whee flogged out of it, so he wound up with a nice, low-mileage civilian car. Anyway, a supervisor's car or a fire chief's car is the way to go if you can find one. Detective cars are pretty well used, but not like a squad car. I know that the CHP auctions off their cars, but there are only two auction sites in teh entire state, namely Torrance and Sacramento. You might want to talk to a used car lot in your area and see if the guy will bid on a good one for you at a dealer auction. PMDrive1061 (talk) 02:46, 20 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
