Nick Loren

Hi Denise and welcome to Wikipedia. You have created an article about Nick and it has been tagged as there are some issues with it. Although they are ugly they do serve a purpose; basically to help us make the article conform to the standards here. There are a lot of different policies dealing with articles, but we don't expect you to know them all when you first start off. With this article it is obvious you have a conflict of interest. This should not stop you from writing about the person, you just have to take extra care to keep a neutral point of view. Basically everything must be verifiable. If its not published somewhere it shouldn't be put in an article. As this is a living person extra care has to be taken with sources. Self published sources cannot be used avoided. You also have to establish the notability of Nick. This can only really be done by citing third-party sources such as newspaper articles. I will help out as much as I can in this regard. Thank you so much for your help regarding the issues on this article. This is my first time posting an article to Wilkepedia so it is all brand new to me and I know I have lots to learn.. As per your message I changed some of the info on the article to follow the guidelines of being neutral. Also everything on the page is verifiable. I've even added some additional reliable sources and removed anything that was self published. The subject of the article is a notable person and that can be verified via all the sources I've noted as well as just doing a basic google search on his name. When I first made the article viewable there was a tag at the top that stated the article was unreviewed or something like that. I was trying to figure out how to get it reviewed so the box wouldn't appear at the top and I think I thought that nominating it as a good article was the same as asking for it to be reviewed. As I said this is all foreign language to me so I apologize for any mistakes or issues. Can you tell me how I can further fix this article to get it where it needs to be and have it published? I really appreciate your help.

No problem. I have been around for over a year now and am still learning things. Last night I removed some statements referenced to youtube, some terms I thought were not neutral and changed "Nick" to "Loren". I wouldn't worry about the Good Article review mistake, it could work out well as it is how I noticed the article. I don't think it will be deleted for not being notable, but that doesn't mean others here won't. All we can do is add the most reliable sources that mention about him. You have added some good one and I had a quick look through google news and found these [1] [2] [3] that might help. I will go through now and check the refs for any I think that are a bit dodgy. One good reference is better than five dodgey ones. I will also format them so they look a bit better. "How it all began" is not a very encyclopedic heading and should probably be changed. I can let you know if I notice anything else. If I make any changes you disagree with let me know here, at my talk page or even better at the articles talk page. You can also change it back yourself, just leave a detailed message as possible in the edit summary box. Although if a disagreement occurs it is best to discuss it and not just keep changing the article. AIRcorn (talk) 11:04, 14 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Formatted and consolidated the references. I hid the ones that I thought were a bit suspect. I can remove them if we agree that they are not necessary. AIRcorn (talk) 10:02, 15 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

NICK LOREN Thank you for your feed back. I think we can agree that the references that you hid can be removed as they are not necessary. Just to clarify... the references visible on the page now will stay, correct? Do you have a suggestion to replace the heading The Early Years? I understand the edits you did to the article and agree that it definitely made it more neutral. thank you for your help. Is there anyway to include IMDB? this is a great way for people to see everything he's done in one shot. How long does it take until I know if the article will be deleted or not? And will that box at the top that has all the warnings on it go away if the article is deemed okay? Sorry for all the questions, I truly appreciate your feed back and consideration.

Yep the references visible at the moment will stay and you should be safe using IMDB in the External links section. Unfortunately there is no time limit on when an article can be nominated for deletion, but there needs to be a good reason to do so. Now that we have got the references sorted out I will remove the warnings from the box. As for improvements I have renamed "How It All Began" to "Career" as that complies with most other biographies. Also there are a lot of links to disambiguation pages. For example Hairspray could refer to the product, musical or movies and currently it links to a page that lists and links to the other pages. It would be better to link to the Hairspray (2007 film) article. By separating the two with a pipe (|) and writing [[Hairspray (2007 film)|Hairspray]] it will link to the correct page, but only show Hairspray in the article. This tool lists the links to other disambiguation pages. I just noticed that many of the images you uploaded have been deleted. The rules on using pictures here are very strict and again not my area of expertise. If you have taken a photo yourself and no one else holds copyright over it you may upload it, but it will then be free for anyone else to use in any capacity they want. As can be seen at [4] they want permission emailed that the pictures can be used. If you do so the deleted ones could then be restored. From memory one looked like it was from an album cover and would need the permission of the copyright holder before it could be used. I would also recommend removing the facebook site from his infobox, but that's just my personal opinion. Apart from that its not too bad for your first article. Thanks for everything. I will take time to correct the disambiguation issue. May be a few days but I will do it. Also we own the photo used in and the design of the album cover. We also own all the other photos aside from the one with Nick and John Travolta on the red carpet. So who do I email to let them know that we own the photos? I clicked on the link but it basically tells me how to upload photos. Unless I missed something. Thanks again for all your help. I appreciate your time.

I struggle myself with images and might not be much help in this regard. The email address is permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. They should be able to help you more. Good luck AIRcorn (talk) 12:44, 19 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
