Chicago

Because of your work with the WikiProject Cities I'd like you to take a look at the Chicago article if you have the time & desire. It is currently up for Peer Review (see Chicago Talk) and I would enjoy hearing your feedback to help guide the growth of this article. Jasenlee 01:09, Apr 14, 2005 (UTC)

RFC pages on VfD

Should RFC pages be placed on VfD to be deleted? I'm considering removing Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Slrubenstein, Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Jwrosenzweig and Wikipedia:Requests for comment/John Kenney fraom WP:VFD. Each of them was listed by CheeseDreams. Your comments on whether I should do this would be appreciated. - Ta bu shi da yu 03:33, 10 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Nazi concentration camp badges

Hi. Did you make these yourself? If not, where did you get them? (Image:Small-triangle-Czech.jpg, Image:Small-triangle-band.jpg, Image:Small-triangle-green.jpg, etc.) Quadell (talk) (help)[[]] 01:07, Dec 17, 2004 (UTC)

Unverified images

Hi! Thanks for uploading the following image:

I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GNU Free Documentation License, {{PD-self}} if you wish to release your own work to the public domain, {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know at my talk page where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much. Peter O. (Talk, automation script) 06:33, Dec 25, 2004 (UTC)

P.S. You can help tag other images at User:Yann/Untagged_Images. Thanks again.

Cut and paste earthquake article?

Could you show me where I did this? I believe I directly linked to the article on Wikipedia, but I may very well have accidentally done so. If so, I'd really like to know where, so I can figure out the error... - Amgine 20:16, 1 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Davodd - I found where an anonymous user cut-and-pasted. I will clean that up immediately. - Amgine 20:41, 1 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Reply is on Amgine talk page. DAVODD 21:59, Jan 1, 2005 (UTC)

Chicago City Box

Hello! I am currently working on cleanning up Richmond, Virginia – which is a mess. I think I am going to model the revamped version mostly after the Chicago, Illinois page. I saw you uploaded the graphic of Illinois with Chicago marked in red. This image kicks the pants off the one we are using over on Richmond. Anyway I could persuade you into making a new Richmond, VA image for me? If not, did you use some sort of software or just elbow grease? Anyway good job. Let me know on my talk page if you can help me out. Thanks! --MaxPower 20:14, 2005 Jan 24 (UTC)

Hi, I'm about to shift this to the archives. Are you still working on this or actioning it? I haven't seen a comment in a while! - Ta bu shi da yu 01:11, 3 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I have shifted that to the archives now. - Ta bu shi da yu 04:02, 6 Feb 2005 (UTC)

New wiki?

Hi, Davodd. I'm considering the possibility of a new wiki for journalists. As another Wikipedian journalist, I'm wonder if you might be interested. Maurreen 05:19, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Yes, sorry I wasn't clear, I was thinking of a wiki about journalism, not one that is journalism.
In order to give it user value over Wikipedia, it would need to do something Wikipedia doesn't or have something that Wikipedia doesn't or draw people that Wikipedia doesn't. Maybe it might be better to just get more journalists to contribute to related articles on Wikipedia.
On the other hand, a new wiki could maybe:
  1. Critique news organizations, both as products and places to work.
  2. Critique news sources as sources. (This one's a little radical; just food for thought.)
  3. Give more how-to's.
  4. Be a base for journalists as activists on journalism issues, such as anonymity.
  5. Give interaction between the press and the public.
  6. Keep up with industry news (such as at http://www.poynter.org/medianews/, but better).
  7. Have culled and annotated links (internal, external or both) to make info on many specific related topics easy to find (more or less like http://www.ikeepbookmarks.com/Editor but on a larger scale).
  8. Be more international and otherwise broader, and of course more interactive than many current journalism sites.
The idea is still germinating, and I don't know whether it would generate enough interest. But I figure it's worth asking, and User:SlimVirgin is interested. Maurreen 08:26, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Military History of US

top-notch work there--everyone was waiting for someone to start; the proverbial first person to hand in the test, and you were brave enough to be it. Very good job. Lockeownzj00 06:48, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Thanks. I decided to listen to my own advice to be bold. DAVODD 09:54, Mar 14, 2005 (UTC)

2005 Sumatran earthquake - appropriateness of article issue

Hiya, Regarding the above article we are mutually involved in. I partially see your point that it would be better to incorporate this information in wikinews first and then transfer the information from there to a wikipedia article. In a sense then, wikinews can act as a definitive source of information for wikipedia articles.

From the point of view of utility, this article will probably be the first point of call for some people wanting an overall view of the ongoing event. If it informs just one person, it will have served its purpose. See my point? Having said that, I will now look more closely at wikinews.

This is an intriguing issue, I'd appreciate your critique on my standpoint and the subject generally. Its one the more abstract issues in wikipedia that ought to have more guidelines.--ChrisJMoor 22:22, 28 Mar 2005 (UTC)

issues regarding school articles

In November 2003, there was a VfD debate over Sunset High School (Portland). The debate was archived under Talk:Sunset High School (Portland). What to do with the article is still being contested and has been recently re-nominated for VfD at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Sunset High School (Portland).

I am writing to you because you have participated in such debates before. There still does not exist a wikipedia policy (as far as i can tell) over what to do in regards to articles about specific U.S. public school. My hope is that a real consensus can come out of the debate, and a real policy can take shape. Take part if you are so willing. Kingturtle 02:22, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)
