Signature issues

You should be able to access my preferences. It should work, I'm not understanding what the problem is.---DanTD (talk) is your signature. I just tested it in my own sig thing, it works for me. Check-box the [Treat as wiki markup] box and hit CTRL+F5 on a Windows Computer. I just posted this on the Media/Elwyn line talk, take a look and try again. Mitch32(Victim of public education, 17 years and counting) 18:29, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

US 90

When you're done with the article, you should drive the Panhandle part. Honestly, it's pretty much my favorite part of the state. Once you go, I think you'll find yourself returning again and again. I know I do. And it's coming up on the best time to see it, fall and winter. I can point you to the interesting bits, should you decide to go, doncha know. Cheers! ;) --Ebyabe talk - State of the Union ‖ 13:56, 14 September 2012 (UTC)

Btw, when you're done with US 90, are you going to work on U.S. 98? It's Florida's Pacific Coast Highway. At least that's how I think of it. Without the whole hairpin-turn-possibly-going-over-a-cliff thing. And you can find views like this. :) --Ebyabe talk - General Health ‖ 17:08, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
I've done scattered work on US 98 in Florida from time to time. I've got an unfinished hidden route description that's already there right now. -------DanTD (talk) 17:21, 14 September 2012 (UTC)

Monticello

I haven't been paying much attention to the chatter at WP:NRHP for a while, so I just noticed your commentary about this. Don't hesitate to ask me about stuff like that. You know me, I'm Mister Chatty. :) I put a lot of the coordinates based on the database. 'Cause if I checked 1,000+ sites, it would have taken forever. When I find an error now, or someone drops a note, I'll correct. Also, Google and addresses don't always cooperate. One of the worst cases are the Chipley sites. If you enter them on Google, it leads you to the south side of town, when the Woman's Club and old City Hall are near downtown. As far as remembering my travels, I keep journals of all my travels. I usually write them during the trip. I often have flashbacks for no readily apparent reason. I don't have the wherewithal at the moment to travel like I used to, but thanks to all my prior roadtrips, I can travel in my head. And with Google street view, it's almost as good as the real thing. And cheaper, because, you know, no gas. :) --Ebyabe talk - State of the Union ‖ 16:57, 14 September 2012 (UTC)

Not a bad idea. I should take notes on my pics too. It just so happens I'll bt sanpping some on my trip to Long Island next week. Now if I could just find a way to fix my signature before then. -------DanTD (talk) 22:27, 14 September 2012 (UTC)

Your sig?....

I think there's something wrong with your sig, the links aren't coming through (see your posts at User talk:Malcolmxl5). Cheers, Shearonink (talk) 17:57, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

Oh, there definitley is. And two prominent editors gave me tips that haven't worked so far. -------DanTD (talk) 20:58, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
Do you have the code stored somewhere?...or maybe what is the effect you are going for? I'm not at all prominent but maybe I could take a look too... Shearonink (talk) 21:06, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
The second person gave me the code, and it didn't work. -------DanTD (talk) 21:11, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
| is the Unicode code number for the pipe character, |. Try changing that to the pipe itself in your preferences to see if that works. Imzadi 1979  21:15, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
Saw from the talk page history that you were unable to access your Preferences back in August...are you still unable to get at them? I know that the Signature appearance is listed on the User profile tab, but maybe until you can get the signature fixed-up the way you want it, the four tildes/standby would work to get those internal link-thingys back into your signature... Shearonink (talk) 21:19, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
Imzadi, I ran a Preview/editing-test on that and it looks like it might fix the unlinked issues. Cheers, Shearonink (talk) 21:24, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
I tried the pipe itself, before I tried the code. Still no link. User:Mitchazenia brought this up on the Media/Elwyn Line talk page, it gave me nothing. -------DanTD (talk) 21:42, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
When I changed both instances in your signature from your coding to just the pipe itself the signature worked on this page. I am noticing that Imzadi's rendering of the code is different from yours...
Imzadi's has 'amp' and a colon in the middle... & amp ; # 124 ;
your signature is missing 'amp' + that colon... & # 124 ;
...could that be it? Shearonink (talk) 22:01, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
That was worse! I put "amp" in there, and I got "Invalid raw signature. Check HTML tags," in huge red letters! -------DanTD (talk) 22:12, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

Almsot solved

I just found out, I'd be better off if I used no code whatsoever, and just loaded the direct link to my page and talk page, because the link to my user page works now. I'm going to fix the talk page after this. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 22:17, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

Yay, DanTD solves another great WikiMystery! Cheers, Shearonink (talk) 01:47, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
More or less. I'd like to be able to add the link to my talk page without exposing the full title. I'm going to try a little something after this. -------User:DanTD (User talk:DanTD) 01:53, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
Okay, I think I did it now. Maybe someday I'll make future adjustments. -------User:DanTD (talk) 01:56, 16 September 2012 (UTC)

If I had typed out & # 1 2 4 ; without the spaces, web browsers will convert that to |. To get the code to display, I had to use the & a m p ; code next to the #124; otherwise any web browser will show the character, not the code. Don't look at the raw wikicode on my comment, only the display copy. HTML uses &s to start the code for special characters, followed by either a code word (amp for ampersand, nbsp for a non-breaking space) or a # and a number; the semicolon ends the special coding.
