July 14, 2-7pm: Annual NYC Wiki-Picnic @ Roosevelt Island

You are invited to join us at the "picnic anyone can edit" in the lovely Southpoint Park on Roosevelt Island, as part of the Great American Wiknic celebrations being held across the USA. Remember it's a wiki-picnic, which means potluck.

This year the Wiknic will double as a "Strategy Salon" (more information at Wiknic page), using open space technology to address major questions facing our social movement.

2–7pm - come by any time!
Our picnicking area is at Southpoint Park, south of the tram and subway, and also just south of the Cornell Tech campus.
Look for us by the Wikipedia / Wikimedia NYC banner!

Celebrate our 13th year of wiki-picnics! We hope to see you there! Newcomers are very welcome! Bring your friends and colleagues! --Wikimedia New York City Team 21:36, 6 July 2019 (UTC)

Talk:Willis Avenue (IRT elevated station) vs. Willis Avenue (Power) Station

I declined to seek any form of dispute resolution with you earlier because you said you were walking away from station articles after the LIRR rename, but apparently that's no longer the case. Personally, I don't care how many times you call me an idiot, but your contributions in this space are almost entirely toxic and that's not okay. I propose that you do one of two things: stop making personal attacks, in favor of constructive edits (like the one Cards84664 (talk · contribs) made); or actually disengage from this set of articles, as you'd threatened to do before. Otherwise, I'm going to ask for a formal topic ban, as much for your benefit as anyone else's. Please consider this. Best, Mackensen (talk) 19:06, 22 July 2019 (UTC)

1)I'm working on other related topics as a non-member and 2)I just discovered the Willis Avenue Station "Power Plant" this morning (as opposed to the former IRT elevated line station), which proves that your renaming was wrong all along! And there's no logical way you can claim I benefit more than anyone else, when the only difference between the two articles is the size of the letter. Despite what "User:Cards84664 claims, a mere hatnote isn't enough. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 19:22, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
No part of what you wrote justifies calling people "idiots". None. I'm saying that you're liable to face sanctions if you keep attacking people, and I'm offering to help you avoid that. I also marvel at the fact that post move you "discover" articles with similar names, and never draw the conclusion that it's because of preemptive disambiguation that we didn't know there were articles with similar names, and that's actually a problem which is now getting addressed. What's the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for Willis Avenue Station/Willis Avenue station? The train station? The power plant? That's an interesting question to be resolved. It's not resolved by calling people idiots, or grumbling on about "this shit" again. So I'll ask you to make a choice again, and make the choices more obvious:
  1. keep calling people idiots
  2. start a move discussion for these two articles (I would support a move of some kind, the hatnote really isn't enough)
  3. walk away

I'm glad this issue is being dealt with, but what you and others who forced the name change fail to realize is that there are many other articles and situations that have warranted not changing the naming convention besides this one. Often in the commons I've encountered images of other stations with the same names as stations that were cut down (Brewster, Millerton, Milton, take your pick) Between this and an administrator who insisted on categorizing city halls, village halls, and borough halls as all being "Town Halls," the illogical decisions made by the bureaucrats has become preposterous. Nevertheless I'm still a railfan as much as I am a roadfan, and even if I don't add any new articles or pictures, I'm still going to fix what's needed before I leave. -------User:DanTD (talk) 19:55, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
I'm not I follow. If you're saying that Commons (which is not the English Wikipedia) has images for stations for which we don't have articles, then that calls for disambiguation on Commons. We have perfectly good rules for disambiguating when there's ambiguity, here and on Commons. WP:USSTATION didn't change that. The difference between Foo station (X Railroad) and Foo (X Railroad) or Foo (X Railroad station) is minute. Anyway, this is water under the bridge. You keep railing at "bureaucrats" as though they are some species apart, and not your fellow editors, whom you've repeatedly attacked. We're no less dedicated to the project than you are. Many of us are railfans. Apparently we because we see matters differently than you we don't have or deserve your respect. Very well. Mackensen (talk) 21:32, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
