Again, welcome! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 19:03, 17 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Dale. Normally this would be the place for a new user Welcome template, but it's clear you don't need one as you already know how to edit. (But welcome anyway!)

Thank you for your edit to Red River Trails; I typed in the wrong date. Both the source I cited and the Lass book give 1823. Regards, Kablammo (talk) 23:52, 12 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Actually, I am a new user, but I have written for money for over 35 years (wow, I'm impressed). I've made a few changes to Wikipedia so far, but I'm only doing minor edits, and am trying to stay within the guidelines.
By the way, I have been studying the Red River Trails for some time. I'm planning to do a video on them, once I retire. If you're interested, I have a Google map of free campgrounds in MN, many of which are near the various Trails. It is at http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=104713187722086232164.00043b1fed1f6d3d24834&z=6&om=1
I looked at it. Interesting! I'm still working on a map of the trails.
A couple of suggestions. You can sign your posts by putting ~~~~ at the end. A bot will come along and add your name on some pages, but not on others. And when you add a new section to a talk page, putting a colon : at the beginning will indent it from the left margin; more colons, more indentations. To add bullet points use *.
Creating a footnote can be confusing-- let me know if you want any help.
If you have any questions feel free to ask, either here (I've watchlisted this page) or on my talk page. I like to keep threads together so I'll probably answer wherever you post them. Kablammo (talk) 15:56, 13 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hello. I have been trying to put my toe into the water. I've entered Concert saloon and made some changes to Cattle drives. Plus I entered something on the French_Eversole_Feud.
I'm going slowly. Since I have spare minutes, I do this at work. Any comments gratefully received. And happy new year.Dale662 (talk) 15:39, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of George Bonga edit

A tag has been placed on George Bonga requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. George Bonga edit

Greetings, and welcome to Wikipedia! First things first: the page you made. Just so you know, it's nothing personal. I only nominated the article for speedy deletion because it does not state anywhere why George Bonga is notable. It does state that he was involved in the fur trade, but that in and of itself isn't particularly notable. I have reviewed the information you gave me on him, and I also did a Google search for his name. Based on that (admittedly limited) research, I suspect you could add more information to the article that would get you past a speedy deletion, so I'll remove that tag from the article. I'm skeptical, though that the article would not just be deleted down the road through the Articles for Deletion process. That's not a knock on Mr. Bonga by any means; I just don't see a whole lot there to indicate that he's particularly notable in the grand scheme of things. If you'd like to expand the article and prove me wrong, please feel free to do that. Second, when leaving notes for people, please do so on their talk page, not the main user page. The user page is where I tell people about myself; the talk page is where people leave me notes. Good luck with your article! Gromlakh (talk) 20:14, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Photo: I would just paste the permission in the "summary" section on the photo page. If it needs to go somewhere else, at least it can be found there.
On another note, since you have a contact at MHS, could you do me a favor? There are a couple of images up for deletion on the rationale that MHS owns the text: (Image:SibleyHousePlaque1.jpg and Image:Dividemn.jpg). I think MHS would be pleased to have this information disseminated in their form (since my re-phrasing could introduce errors). Could you ask them to grant permission to Wikipedia to host these images? Thanks.--Appraiser (talk) 14:32, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

MHS plaque photos edit

Thanks for getting the response from MHS. I took both of those photos and am happy to release whatever original content there is to the public domain. His note sounds a bit unofficial to claim that MHS actually releases the text (with attribution) though. Does your contact have an official-sounding title?--Appraiser (talk) 19:18, 4 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

He's David Grabitske of the Historic Preservation department, so I would assume it's OK.Dale662 (talk) 19:33, 4 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
