Help request

I've added a few photos I have taken myself. I don't really mind putting them under the GNU lisence, but I don't want people to use them for commercial use. How can I stop this?

I think you want one of the Creative_Commons_Licenses. It's explained at Creative Commons License.--Commander Keane 14:21, 5 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
Actually, if you want photos on the Wikipedia it has to be on a license which is okay for commercial use. You'll have to waive that right on that photo to Wikimedia. Computerjoe 15:14, 5 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've put a few of my own photos up in Wiki. I don't really mind if people want to use them for their own personal use, but I don't want them to use my photos for commercial use. Someone kindly suggested using Creative Commons lisences, but the types that are available for use on Wiki don't cover non-commercial use. Thanks in advance for any advice.

  • Unfortunately what you are requesting really goes against the grain of what Wikipedia is about, creating a free encyclopaedia, so such restrictions are not permitted. You could however consider one of the creative commons sharealike attribution licenses, which mean anyone commercially using the image would need to credit you, make sure that others knew they could use the image under the same terms, and release any changes they made to the image under the same license. --pgk(talk) 15:30, 5 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Help

edit

I just uploaded new versions of my photos to Wiki under new filenames. How do I delete the old files? Thanks in advance.

Use the ifd template. If they aren't linked to any page, they will be deleted in a week or two anyway. (Arundhati Bakshi (talkcontribs)) 12:01, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

RIAT images

edit

Hi, I was wondering whether you could upload your RIAT pictures to Wikimedia Commons, so the gallery section of the RIAT article can be moved there. --GW_Simulations|User Page | Talk | Contribs | E-mail 19:38, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please consider adding LynxHAS3.jpg to commons

edit

Hi. Would you please consider adding LynxHAS3.jpg to the Wikimedia Commons and the category Westland Lynx there? That way all the wikipedia-projects can benefit from your photo and more photos of this subject can be found at the same place. Kind regards Hebster (talk) 16:44, 9 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

NowCommons: Image:DSCF0399 A.jpg

edit

Image:DSCF0399 A.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:Image:Boeing FA-18F Super Hornet at RIAT.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all MediaWiki wiki's. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[Image:Boeing FA-18F Super Hornet at RIAT.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 22:22, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:P-47MThunderbolt.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:P-47MThunderbolt.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

ATTENTION: This is an automated, BOT-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate your file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 03:00, 17 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
