Copa Libertadores

edit

Greetings,

First, you have to understand that the removal of the tournament name in Portuguese has nothing to do with the official languages of CONMEBOL. It is about the name of the tournament in common English usage, which just so happens to be the tournament name in Spanish. If you look across the other continental tournaments in other confederations, they just have the English name, even if the majority of the people in the region don't speak English. Secondly, the portion you added on Atletico Nacional is incorrect as per proper English. That's why its being removed. Cheers. Digirami (talk) 01:38, 6 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

It doesn't matter who have the audience is, per say. English wiki has to be catered to English speakers. You don't see the UEFA Champions League article have the name of the tournament in UEFA's other official languages (French and German). It's established consensus because while it may be easy to list both official languages with CONMEBOL articles, it gets harder when it comes to the other confederations with a lot of official languages. Don't think that the Portuguese speakers are singled out; it just so happens that the common names in English are the ones in Spanish. If the common English name of the tournament was "Liberators Cup", "Copa Libertadores" wouldn't be in the infobox--let alone the Portuguese name. Digirami (talk) 02:32, 6 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
You converted the Atletico Nacional sentence into a run-on. Additionally, while saying they were first Colombian country is important, its less important that they are from the Pacific or the Andes (especially since the two can be the one in the same). Digirami (talk) 02:32, 6 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
