Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company, organization, or clients. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block.

Request reason:

Hello, I understand that I was blocked from wikipedia because my username and the page that I was making had conflicts of interest. I am making a page for a publisher that I am familiar with. I did not mean for it to be promotional, rather i was trying to be informative. I understand that I need to change my approach and be more neutral in my presentation of the facts. Please realize that I made an amatuer mistake and I will work hard to ensure this never happens again. Please understand that this was a mistake made from a lack of experience. I appreciate your proactive behavior and will absolutely adjust the way I post on Wikipedia.

Decline reason:

Changing the username would not prevent the conflict of interest here. Before we could consider unblocking your account for a rename, we would need to have some evidence that the article you want to create would meet the notability criteria for inclusion, with references at reliable sources which are independent of the subject. As your intention is obviously to re-create the article, without evidence that it would meet the criteria for inclusion, it would be a waste of time to unblock your account. Request reason:

I am confused as to what you are looking for because when I go to the wikipedia pages for other publishers, they cite nothing but their own about pages. Clearly someone from their company is the one that is working on these. I am an independent person that just used the wrong user name. I can show book reviews and mentions on blogs, business profiles, etc. I just don't understand why other companies get off so easily, and I am getting so much trouble all becauase I misnamed my profile. Any and all assistance on this matter would be appreciated. Cosimo, Inc (talk) 17:32, 26 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Everything on Wikipedia must exist by its own merit, by satisfying a threshhold for inclusion. If it doesn't, it should be deleted. The mere existence of a company/business/group in itself is not grounds for inclusion: what is is independent, verifiable reliable sources having had written about the subject.

In order to be unblocked, you would need to provide these sources and you can do that on this page. They need to be independent and reliable. That means no press releases, no blogs, and nothing passing or like a directory listing: they must be in depth.

You will also need to request for your username to be changed, as accounts that suggest or state they are accessed by more than one person are prohibited. Note that doing that will not eliminate you from the conflict of interests you are in. WilliamH (talk) 17:49, 26 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

  • None of those references are satisfactory - they are not in depth. You need to provide non-passing independent references about the publisher - a feature in a newspaper or magazine would be ideal. WilliamH (talk) 18:58, 26 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Allowing username change to requested username. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. Bear in mind that if you create an article that is just advertising, you may be blocked for that.Elen of the Roads (talk) 21:30, 27 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Welcome

edit

Hello, Cosimo, Inc, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. To start creating a draft article, just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit that page as you would any other. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. It is also worth noting that Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which specifically link them to one company or corporation. If your username does have such a name, it would be advisable for you to request a change of username.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! You can also just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Elen of the Roads (talk) 21:31, 27 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
