Can you please tell me why you blocked Jiffman (talk · contribs)? NYSMtalk page 00:47, 15 June 2012 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Nowyouseeme, Coren's been inactive since February; you may want to check with another checkuser. Thanks! — madman 01:32, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
Oh, thanks for letting me know! :) NYSMtalk page 11:29, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
I probably can't (tell). Checkuser data that led to that block is long expired, and while I might be able to recover enough clues from my email archive and contemporary notes I may have had, I'm not inclined to expend that amount of time over a two year old block unless there is a pressing need for the information.
Is there a specific reason you wanted that information? — Coren (talk) 23:42, 18 June 2012 (UTC)

Welcome back

Welcome back, Coren! Congratulations on your new job.  madman 20:01, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

ANI - copyright infringement

Thanks for sorting that out. There must be 000s of images on commons that don't have the tag to show their copyright status in the US on. I know ones I've uploaded don't (I'll have to go and add them now). The OP just didn't seem to get that ANI was the wrong forum. NtheP (talk) 15:48, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

I think you're even optimistic in that assessment.  :-) Copyright assessment is complicated gunk, and hard enough even when it's entirely within the US, so it's not surprising few people know of the exact set of correct templates to slap on any particular image. Hell, I didn't know what the right template might have been either — I just had to hunt for it knowing there had to be one to match the "we know it's PD in the US because of the source and URAA interaction" somewhere.  :-) — Coren (talk) 15:53, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
True, add another three zeros then :-P NtheP (talk) 16:11, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

Verifiability RfC

Hello Coren, and thank you very much for volunteering to be one of the closers of the verifiability RfC! I think I speak for all of the participants in the MedCab mediation in saying that we are grateful for you agreeing to put the time and effort into this. The participants seemed very happy with naming you as a closer, and they have made it pretty much official by adding your name to the RfC draft page. I've set a mini-deadline for the mediation participants of 10am on Thursday 28th (UTC) to agree on the final tweaks to the RfC wording, which should mean that the RfC will finish on July 28th. There's nothing you really need to do until then, but if you are interested the mediation participants are currently having a discussion about whether we should outline anything about the closing process in the RfC instructions. I think the participants would value your input, but there's no need to comment if you don't want to. And also, if you have any questions about how the mediation process has gone, etc., just drop me a line. Best — Mr. Stradivarius on tour (have a chat) 04:11, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

Is it possible to get it to cover newly created WP:AFC submissions as well? T. Canens (talk) 22:38, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

Before it's made into a mainspace page, you mean? There's no reason why that wouldn't be possible, though it might have to be triggered manually on review (I'm not entirely clear how the new article wizard works, I'll have to look into it). I'll get back to you in a day or two once I've looked into in. — Coren (talk) 15:41, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
