Speedy deletion of Core Historical Literature of Agriculture

edit

A tag has been placed on Core Historical Literature of Agriculture requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hello Athaenara - We are definitely part of the official team that created the CHLA site. The Core Historical Literature of Agriculture collection will have enduring academic value for scholars of historical agriculture in the United States for years to come. Thank you for your input. As we are new to wikipedia, we truly appreciate your input. You said that adding the statement on the external site"I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later" was needed. If we added the GNU free documentation license to the original page where this description was published, then would you be willing to restore the article? If that is not adequate, then please let us know. It would not do justice to change the true essence of the article by expressing its value in any different way. What do you recommend? If needed, we will make every effort to re-write the article, even make it shorter. The resource contains historical material that are otherwise very hard to find for farmers, scholars and historians. A wikipedia entry for this rich reference resource will bring rare and historical information to the doorstep of millions. The resource is completely free and we ask for no payment, fee or even donations. there is absolutely no commercial motive here. Please let us know as soon as possible what we can do to bring this reference resource to the users of wikipedia. Thank you. CoreHist (talk) 01:52, 3 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hi. It's unfortunate that your first experience with Wikipedia is having your article deleted. However, it was done to comply with the copyright notice on the website chla.library.cornell.edu which states at the bottom of the page that the material is copyrighted by the Cornell University Library. In order for material to be added to wikipedia, the text must be released under the GNU Free Documentation License. Wikipedia:Copyrights provide more information on copyrights, and Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials provides more information on donating coptyrighted material. As you are affiliated with the CHLA, you need to be aware of conflict of interest. As well, the article will need to meet Wikipedia standards for notability, and verifiability or the article may be be deleted. I've added a welcome message at the top of your talk page with additional information and useful links. Regards, -- Whpq (talk) 02:53, 3 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hello. Thank you for the response even so late in the night. I will request CHLA creators if they are willing to donate portion of their website under GFDL licence. The article does meet wikipedia standards for notability and verifiability. I will ensure that this article will not conflict with interests of wikipedia as we will request Mann Library to donate some of their copyrighted material to wikipedia such that wikipedians can edit freely.CoreHist (talk) 11:42, 3 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
