There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. clpo13(talk) 16:40, 3 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Requested username:

Request reason:

I understand why this account was blocked for the mentioned two reasons above. Therefore, I would kindly like to ask you to change the username to the proposed name above. I will not use a company's name as username again. Sorry. Regarding the promotional aspect, I would kindly like to ask you for your understanding. It was my first attempt to contribute to Wikipedia. I would like to set up a Wikipedia article about the company Egoditor and am willing to remove every promotional aspect from it. I took a look at other company articles e.g. Basecamp (company) and would like to set up an article about Egoditor in the same style. Please unblock me to do so.

Decline reason:

Your proposed username seems to be acceptable. However, you don't seem to have read about conflict of interest at WP:COI and paid editing at WP:PAID, the latter being required by Wikipedia's Terms of Use for paid editors. As you won't be allowed to directly edit about your company, we will need to know what you do intend to edit about instead. For these reasons, I am declining this request. 331dot (talk) 07:58, 7 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • I would add that Wikipedia is not interested in what a company wants to say about itself, or how it wants to be portrayed. Wikipedia is only interested in what independent reliable sources with in depth coverage state about an article subject, showing how it is notable per guidelines, in this case those for businesses at WP:ORG. Please review them. In your case, in order to be successful in writing about your company, you would need to forget everything you know about it and only write based on what such sources state. That does not include the company website, press releases, interviews with company staff, routine business announcements, or any other primary source. (with a very small number of exceptions) Most people in your situation find this difficult(though not impossible) to do. 331dot (talk) 07:58, 7 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Sorry for not reading the policies of COI. I read them now and if I get it right, a paid editor is allowed to write about the company as long as he claims on his user page or talk page that he is connected to the company. Is that correct? If so, I am definitely willing to do so. Please let me know. Also, I requested a name change. Please let me know how to add a neutral article about a company without violating the guidelines of Wikipedia.

Decline reason:

Yes, in general and if they adhere to WP:COI, WP:PAID, and WP:PROMO. As you failed to do so, that option is no longer available to you, as we've previously stated: "If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock." If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Speedy deletion nomination of User:CodyQRCG/sandbox

edit

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:CodyQRCG/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be blatant advertising which only promotes or publicises a company, product, group or service. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. cinco de L3X1 ◊distænt write◊ 02:01, 9 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
