Speedy deletion nomination of Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald
editYou may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
A tag has been placed on Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about it should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you can assert the notability of the subject, . Clicking that button will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the article's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
See the guidelines for specific types of articles: biographies, websites, bands, or companies. 132.216.109.157 (talk) 17:58, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Ed FitzGerald, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://edfitzgerald.org/about.html.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) CorenSearchBot (talk) 13:10, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Dear Cmm1991id - I saw your assertion on the talkpage of the article that the biography was in the public domain. I'm afraid that we cannot accept that assertion when the page that it appears on clearly had a copyright notice on it. If you do have permission from the site to release the text to us, you can follow the instructions further up this page or at WP:IOWN to donate the text under a Wikipedia-compatible license. Please be advised though that just because they are donating the text it doesn't mean that their preferred text will remain unchanged...and that if the text is considered too promotional, it may be toned down or deleted. I hope this helps. If you have further questions you can reply to me here, I have your page watched. Syrthiss (talk) 13:42, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Ed FitzGerald
editA tag has been placed on Ed FitzGerald, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia for multiple reasons. Please see the page to see the reasons. If the page has since been deleted, you can ask me the reasons by leaving a message on my user talk page.

If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Gurt Posh (talk) 13:42, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
- I've tried to explain to you the issues with the article. Since you attempted to recreate it for a third time without responding to those issues, I have prevented the article from being recreated. Regards, Syrthiss (talk) 14:33, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
- Dear Cmm1991id - I appreciate that you say that, but saying that is not enough. One of those websites clearly has a copyright notice, and the other one has no notice regarding the content that appears on the website. We need unequivocal statements from an official address that releases the content under a wikipedia-compatible license (as I mentioned above, and was mentioned above that). If that is too much of a burden, you could rewrite the bio of Mr. FitzGerald from scratch. I'm afraid those are the only two avenues available to you. I hope this helps. Syrthiss (talk) 14:48, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
- For what its worth, I am not trying to make this difficult for you but to protect Mr. FitzGerald's rights (as I would any other creator of copyrighted content). Syrthiss (talk) 14:51, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for your response. I'm not trying to make this difficult either. The biography is the property of Ed FitzGerald and the County, and has been provided to those other websites by us. I will see what I can do to either rewrite it completely or get the license information.Cmm1991id (talk) 15:05, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
- Yep, I understand. Thanks very much for your help on this. Syrthiss (talk) 15:11, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
