Movember

edit

Hi Cluso99,

Please consider that wikipedia is not a place to the blow the whistle on dodgy operations.

It is an objective tertiary resource. And surprisingly it's not based on "truth" but on verifibilty.

This can be confusing and disheartening for some new users, especially those on a mission to rectify what they see as harsh wrongs in the world.

Other online projects do exist that try to stick it to the man. Like Wikileaks.

But here on wikipedia we can only regurgitate what is said by other reliable information sources (news, journals, textbooks, official websites, radio programs etc.), and usually try to attribute our sources as well (like "X said Y about ABC").

Please try and understand this. Unconstructive editing, like some of your contributions on Movember are not appreciated much. Please discuss the issue on that pages talk page. Wikipedia is not a place for essays or blocks of information. Continued disrupted editing will not be tolerated.--ZayZayEM (talk) 07:05, 5 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Movember. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by some search engines, including Google. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 22:58, 30 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

This link and the content it contains is: 1. Verifiable 2. Sources are verifiable 3. Is NOT advertising LEAVE IT THERE _ DO NOT CONTINUE TO REMOVE IT. I am posting an article about how this wiki is being censored Cluso99 (talk) 23:12, 30 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

What affiliation with Movember do you have?Cluso99 (talk) 23:13, 30 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your edits seem to be in violation of multiple Wikipedia policies and guidelines. I suggest that you take the time to become acquainted with them, before you continue to edit. Some of the key ones to look at would be on external links, spam guidelines, reliable sources, verifiability, no original research, as well as taking a look at what Wikipedia is not. While you're at it, it wouldn't hurt to look at the policy on the three-revert rule.
And for the record, I am physically located in the United States, north of Seattle. I have no connection to the Movember foundation. My interest is in Wikipedia, and helping to monitor for abuse and helping to watch for users who place their own agendas over the policies and guidelines of Wikipedia. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 00:07, 1 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

You are continuing to remove verifiable data. I am reporting you to wiki for removing verifiable data. I will continue to post this information. I have placed the documents on this wiki before and you removed them. This is a link to this information so you MUST leave it there by definition. This will now be broadcast to the world that you continue to censor the wiki, so the wiki can no longer be relied upon to be an independant source. You are now misleading readers about Movember so be warned. Cluso99 (talk) 04:56, 1 December 2008 (UTC) And for the record I made no stance regarding Movember, just verifiable statements.Cluso99 (talk) 04:59, 1 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

A few issues with your comments. First, at least four different users have removed your posts - it's not just me. Second, the information you are addressing with your posts is already adequately addressed in the preceding paragraph within the article. Third, links that are added must meet Wikipedia's criteria of being a reliable source if used as a reference, or if used as an external links then the site should meet the external links guidelines. The site you have added do not meet either requirement. It is someone's personal essay on the subject. While some of the links from that site might be reliable sources, the site itself is most certainly not one. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 17:49, 1 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
