Miles Prance
editI apologize for the rough tone in the edit summary of my most recent edit to Miles Prance. I read the change before I read my talk page. I believe you and I want the same thing (no New Advent reliance in an article like that), but I simply don't use New Advent except for minor details (and never conclusions). In the instance of the Popish Plot figures, for example, New Advent will provide a lot of detail about the "good Catholic boy" lives of the figures prior to their involvement. Well, if you strip the valuative language, that's useful (esp. if you don't want to be a DNB paraphrase), but one knows better than to ever port one of their articles or believe that their conclusions are free of polemics. The New Advent has its place, and sometimes it is quite free of polemic, but it takes a trained eye and a skeptical mind to weight it appropriately. Geogre (talk) 11:57, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
