Remote Sensing critique

edit

The remote sensing page has a decent amount of information, but could definitely use some additions. A lot of the information is missing references, however the references that are included appear to be reliable and unbiased. In my opinion, the details for the four different resolutions seem a little underrepresented and could do with some expansion. Some other areas that might be worthwhile to include are a section describing the different types of scanners, i.e. pushbroom and whiskbroom, and the different types of orbits that are utilized by space-based detectors. In addition, in-situ might be better to use than on-site in the initial remote sensing definition and planetary science could be included in the remote sensing usage list.

VIIRS's spectral bands can be divided into three subsections:

  • Imaging resolution bands (I1-I5)- Consist of 16 detectors each with a spatial resolution of 750m at nadir.
  • Moderate resolution bands (M1-M16)- Consist of 32 detectors each with a spatial resolution of 375m at nadir.
