Please do not add commercial links (or links to your own private websites) to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links to the encyclopedia. See Wikipedia:External links, under Links Normally to avoid-- "Sites that require external applications." The BBC link and other links that were left are just an oversight-- when one spots what appears to be spamming (a user adding a number of external links to the same site to numerous articles), one tends to go through and pull them all, and then (time permitting) go back and look for other inappropriate links in the same article.

You can start the discussion on any Talk page simply by editing it. However, when links violate WP:EL, there is little point (the note above is boilerplate).

More importantly, though, note that WP:EL indicates that one should not add links to one's own page-- I assume from your edits that you are not a disinterested party with respect to Open Grove.

Wikipedia's policy on external links (WP:EL) basically boils down to the following: Wikipedia is not a link farm. Links should only be added if they have valuable information that does not belong in the article itself. If the information in the link does belong it the article, it should be re-written (to avoid copyright issues) and added to the article. In general, articles should have very few links, because very few links fit these criteria. The idea is that we want our articles to be the best possible source of information on a topic, not a short article followed by a long list of links to other articles-- one might just as well have our readers google the subject and read the first dozen sites that come up if we are going to assemble long external link lists.

In particular, links should not be added to gain exposure for a site or to promulgate a particular message. We are an encyclopedia, and such aims are contrary to our purpose. -- Mwanner | Talk 21:31, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
