Sorry

edit

My language might be a bit harsh. I am extremely Wikistressed right now. Forgive me. I'm sure you mean well. I'm just at the point where we're looking at probably mid January before this is even going to be voted on. Delaying that further just seems unnecessary. I've sent several requests to the arbcom to act and I've gotten nothing back. So I appreciate your plight, but really, it won't take you as long as you think. The basic issues are pretty straightforward. Alot of our case is Ben acting the same way over and over. He's consistent. I'll give him that. --Woohookitty(cat scratches) 12:34, 1 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Honestly, I don't have a "goal" per se. I hope that he is taken off of the P-A and nuclear power articles because for 6 months now, we've seen very little positive change on either article. It's still sort of a mess and I don't see that changing with Ben working on it. He doesn't want to follow policy and he keeps putting up these POV edits that are impossible to work with. --Woohookitty(cat scratches) 02:44, 2 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Could you clean up the Temp injunction section on the workshop page? It's gotten to be chicken scratch. :) And you seem to be good at that stuff. I'm eh. Thanks. --Woohookitty(cat scratches) 04:55, 2 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Colditz Castle

edit

Hey sorry but I had to revert your changes, you basically neutered the entire section on escaping from Colditz. I instead spun off less critical sections to reduce page size. Please talk with me before you decide to do any other spin offs, as this could wind up making the article lose its Featured status that I worked for 2 months to obtain!  ALKIVAR  13:14, 1 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

BAP System

edit

I am a complete newbie to wikipedia and apparently Melchoir thinks I am violating some rules, but my interpretation is different. He is suggesting the AFD process, but I don't really want to start off in wikipedia with a dispute. Am I really offbase in thinking that discovering a new way to run chess tournaments is important enough to be in wikipedia? The McMahon system is mentioned and it is not very widespread either. Please help, you are the only one that hasn't been antagonistic to me. With BAP being reported in newspaper, major chess website, minor chess websites, widespread recognition among NW chessplayers, including WCF officials, it sure seems to me to warrant inclusion. The traditional point system is presented as being the only point system, so it is factually incorrect. Is it right to let Wikipedia remain factually incorrect?

The thread between me and Melchoir is on my talk page. Not sure if it matters, but I am one of the top 20 strongest tournament players in the state of Washington.

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/(KCC)

edit

You've nominated an article for deletion, but from the AFD page, one cannot make out which article you have nominated. Do you mean KCC. If so, you should add {{subst:afd}} on the article so that users can get to know that it has been nominated for deletion. I myself cannot make out why you feel that article is vandalism. Please reply on my talk page.--May the Force be with you! Shreshth91($ |-| r 3 $ |-| t |-|) 16:05, 2 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

enlighten me about objectivity in wikipedia (and thks for welcoming)

Hi there.

I am French and now living in France, though I have spent 9 years living and working in Asia and the US, and I value different views brought by international sources (BBC News, CNN, NY Times...). I know how difficult communication between different cultures is, even about what looks like simple ideas, and I know how much one should be able to question one's own convictions once in a while.

I registered because I have been surprised by the way foreign medias have communicated on the "2005 civil unrest in France" and what understanding readers got out of it: pure facts have been mixed with interpretation, leaving to the reader the freedom of picking what is fact and what is not... this problem has been reproduced into the wikipedia article "2005 civil unrest in France" to an even worse extent.

Journalists are supposed to investigate directly on the field (and here it means interviewing the French themselves by the way) to have their own understanding, and produce words that will fairly report and explain to their targetted readers. At the same time, the same information with the same words will be understood differently by each individual, according to its own prior understanding and environment.

The danger in wikipedia is that secondary readers of secondary sources can become primary editors! Though I think it is a much bigger challenge to write in wikipedia than it is to write in the New York Times: you don't know your readers and what is their prior knowledge and understanding of your subject, and that's particularly true in the English version of wikipedia that will be used by any person in the entire planet as a reference!

Truth lies in the eye of the beholder! Since that article and many others after, my faith in wikipedia as a reliable source with universal value has been questionned, and I can't trust the "anyone can edit" principle anymore. That was a nice dream, though. Marco21 16:54, 2 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

English Foxhound photo

edit

You uploaded this photo, which appears to come from [[1]], which has a copyright notice posted. If you are the copyright holder for that site, can you please state so explicitly and also indicate the true source for the photo (photographer or other clearly public-domain site)? Thanks. Elf | Talk 21:32, 9 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Can you please identify the sources of files that you upload from other places and, if you think they're fair use or public domain, state why you think that's the case (per wikipedia guidelines)? Applies both to foxhound and to Image:Field Spaniel.jpg. If you look at the latter, you'll see that you've used an obsolete PD tag anyway & it needs the correct one. I'm removing the photos from the articles until this is cleared up a bit better. Thanks. Elf | Talk 01:07, 13 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

AfD vote on Science fiction Western

edit

Hey, Chazz. I noticed your vote on the AfD for "Science fiction Western. I'm not an expert on AfD, but I think that votes without any comment are often discounted. You might like to go back and add a comment about why you think the article is worth keeping, or why the arguments for deletion aren't persuasive. (You also forgot to sign — I put the "unsigned" template on for you.) Thanks! —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 20:04, 15 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:Fromeast-450.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 07:49, 31 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image:EnglishFoxhound.jpg listed for deletion

edit
An image or media file that you uploaded, Image:EnglishFoxhound.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

Image:Javanese.gif

edit

I listed Image:Javanese.gif at WP:PUI. I suggest you not upload anymore nonfree copyrighted images of animals. It's extremely unlikely that any will be fairuse. If possible, take an image of an animale. If that's not possible, hope somebody else does. Also, per WP:FAIR, you can never use fairuse images on your user page. Sorry. --Rob 11:27, 4 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
