Canvassing
Hello. I think you should know that contributions such as these [1][2] made to other users' talk pages is known as canvassing, and runs counter to Wikipedia's guidelines. Victoriagirl (talk) 17:45, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

- You may wish to take a second read through WP:CANVAS. You'll find that my this query (addressed to an admin) as to proper procedure in no way meets the definition of canvassing. Your words ("...and up for deletion again that quickly by the same person as last time. Help please!!! Thanks.") clearly run against the guideline. Victoriagirl (talk) 18:09, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

As I have contributed to previous deletion discussions on the topic of Sean Kennedy, it was perfectly acceptable for CelticWonder to notify me. In fact, it is generally considered the duty of the initiator of the deletion discussion to notify those who have contributed to previous discussions on the same topic. Blocked for canvasing
Being as you were just warned not to canvas and continued to do so I am giving you a 12 hour block. This block is not punishment, but rather is to prevent you from canvasing. Please do not canvas again after your block is over. Chillum 06:09, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
I certainly was NOT canvassing after being "warned" not to do so. See [6] for reference. As required on WP:CANVAS, my request was a notification of current issues regarding the article in question being addressed (specifically added notability links), was done in limited posting (only to members of the current discussion), and in a neutral, nonpartisan, and open manner. My recent posts [7][8][9][10][11], therefore, should be restored. By definition of the WP:CANVAS, I was not canvassing, and I promise not to do so according to WP:CANVAS.
- After taking a closer look at your message I see you were indeed pointing out the addition of new information to involved people. I apologize for my mistake and am undoing your block. Chillum 06:31, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

Frankly, I think your block should have been maintained. Badgering people on the DRV page is bad enough, but seeking them out on their talk pages to badger them further is uncalled-for. Image permission problem with Image:Sean kennedy 10yearanniversary.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Sean kennedy 10yearanniversary.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
