Crenellations

edit

Thank you for your excellent additions to crenellation. What would be really helpful is if you could add some references: your writing clearly suggests at least primary sources, and probably secondary ones as well. While most Wikipedia articles don't cite sources, this is supposed to be temporary as Wikipedia moves to references, and eventually everything without a reference is likely to eventually be removed (in some articles this is already happening). Which would be a pity here. Wikipedia has a particular citation style, so I would be happy to help turn any "raw" citations into Wikipedia style, if that would help. This is particularly important to support your first sentence "The serious study of castles is riddled with past assumptions, prejudice and 'theories' that have gained popular credence and move into the work of established 'fact'", and protect it from deletion because of the Neutral Point Of View policy.
