Fair use rationale for Image:NessSSBB.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:NessSSBB.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Ness Yoyo.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 17:58, 16 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Duplicate images uploaded

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Ness Yoyo.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Ness yoyo.JPG. The copy called Image:Ness yoyo.JPG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 18:15, 16 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:Ness pose.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Ness pose.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 15:08, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Ness

edit

An article for Ness already existed, but it was redirected per a discussion. Please do not bring that back again. TTN 02:10, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

It has nothing to do with how you feel about it. This site has various content guidelines and policies to regulate articles. This article fails at least five of them. TTN 02:36, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Such as? CarpainterBlue

The general notability guideline requires non-trivial information to be verified by reliable sources. For fiction, this requires articles to have real world information based upon creation and development. TTN 02:43, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I figured as much. I'm working on that. Thanks for the motivation. CarpainterBlue

Unless you have some sort of magical reference, there is no way to improve the article. Please redirect it until you can actually provide the references. TTN 02:48, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

This article must be really bugging you. CarpainterBlue

It's more your unwillingness to let it go after I have explained it to you. Unless you have references that directly talk about how the character was created (from the mouth of the creator) and received (from experienced reviewers and critics), the article needs to go. TTN 02:54, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm working on it presently. It's always hard to let go of something that you work reasonably hard on, wouldn't you agree? CarpainterBlue

Again, you need actual references, not made up quotes. Even if you didn't make that up, it only applies to the game as a whole. Please just give this up already; there is absolutely nothing that you can do to improve it. TTN 03:02, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

You are an efficient mechanism of destruction. Give me a chance to improve the article. Where there's a will, there's a way. CarpainterBlue

If you want to work on the article, create User:CarpainterBlue/Sandbox, and copy the information over there. Remove the images and categories, and then you can work on it to your heart's content. TTN 03:07, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Would that make you happy? CarpainterBlue

It will get the article off of the mainspace, so yes, it will. I'll go ahead and do it for you. TTN 03:10, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

You're so imposing. It's as though you weren't even human. Go ahead. I'll hold on to all the information. CarpainterBlue

Just follow the above link to get to it. TTN 03:13, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, that was nice of you. You're not such a bad guy after all. You're just trying to get people to follow the rules, and very aggressively, I might add. You just come off kinda... cold. CarpainterBlue

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ness on a bike.JPG)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Ness on a bike.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:47, 20 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
