License tagging for Image:KSC.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:KSC.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 02:07, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Duplicate images uploaded

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Acopian Engineering Center.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Acopian Eng.jpg. The copy called Image:Acopian Eng.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 21:45, 23 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image (Image:PardPride.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:PardPride.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 23:48, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Lafayette College images

edit

Hi, I've noticed you've uploaded a number of photos of Lafayette College (such as this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:CampusOver.jpg) and listed their license as Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike License version 2.5. These seem like promotional photos used by the school - did you get permission to release them under this license? If not, these images will have to be removed from Wikipedia. Please reply to my talk page with your response. Thanks, Mattingly23 16:36, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Lafayette Images

edit

Thanks for the reply. The correct procedure is outlined here [1]. Copied from that page:

If the copyright holder agrees to release the image under a free license such as the GFDL, please forward that letter to "permissions-en AT wikimedia DOT org". This ensures that the Wikipedia Foundation has a record of the license in case questions should arise at a later time.
Please clearly indicate in the summary below:
1. The original source of the image, including the copyright holder's name and, if applicable, the URL where you downloaded the image
2. A statement about your discussion with the copyright holder telling under what license he or she agreed to release the image

So what you should do is make a PDF of the letter, and send it to the above email address. Make sure it specifically states what images the letter applies to and the license being applied to them (in this case, Attribution ShareAlike License version 2.5).

Then, on each of the images' summary pages, you should state that you have sent this letter to Wikipedia, and have obtained permission from Mr. Charles Zovko and Lafayette College's Office of Public Information to upload the images.

I hope you understand my initial suspicions - many new users think that if they find a promotional image on a web site, it must be free to use. After the correct procedure is followed, the photos will be a great asset to Lafayette's page.

I still question a couple of the images - [2] - this one of Joel Silver is not likely included in the same group of promotional photos you had mentioned. The same goes for [3]. You would need to follow the same processes for these photos as well.

If you have any questions, please leave another message on my talk page. - Mattingly23 15:26, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of File:Colton Pic.jpg

edit

The file File:Colton Pic.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 13 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
