images for pirates edit

Image copyright goes like this, generally speaking: the original creator of the image retains the copyright. Sometimes, the original creator (in this case, disney) allows specific news organizations that they have relationships with, reproduce those images under license. Those sites (such as comingsoon) do NOT have the authority to pass copyright permissions to others - including WP usage. In other words, I strongly discourage your thought of copying a Disney-copyrighted image from a website that does not have the right to distribute the graphic for others' use. If the image is not released with permission to distribute it (ie have Wikipedia copyright applied to it), then it does not matter where you obtain it from. An image posted without permission is still an image posted without permission. I encourage you to let someone who normally handles movie-related imagery for WP handle this. Your issue is that "Summer 2011" <> "May 2011"? To the movie industry, it's the same thing. Nothing to worry about here. I encourage you to join the Film WikiProject, where questions pertaining to copyright and appropriate article content with regards to the movie pages can be discussed with others more familiar with that subject matter.SpikeJones (talk) 02:14, 3 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
