Welcome

Hello, Brandonwoodsviolin, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you created appears to be an article about yourself. This is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.

The page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Your username

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Brandon Woods, and I noticed that your username, "Brandonwoodsviolin", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Jack Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a change of username, by completing this form, that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 11:16, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Please do not write or add to an article about yourself, as you apparently did at Brandon Woods. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Your new username suggests you are Brandon Woods; if so, please indicate that you understand the policy on autobiographies. 331dot (talk) 12:01, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Oh I'm so sorry 331dot! I wasn't aware we weren't allowed to write articles about ourselves. I just clicked the musical artist option, not even thinking. Please delete the page accordingly.

Kind regards and my apologies, Brandon

I would say that, though I'm not certain, you may still merit an article here; you just should not create it directly. You can review the notability criteria for music, and if you feel you meet at least one of the listed criteria, you can visit Articles for Creation where you can submit a page for review by others before posting, which can mitigate any autobiographical conflict of interest issues. 331dot (talk) 12:10, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

No worries, thanks for that information; good to know and I'll keep that in mind. I think I will wait for someone else to create the page next time around. Thank you for your time! Bwoods1998 (talk) 12:15, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
