Twelve Tribes Communities Article

Hello Butlerblog please stop edit warring at Twelve Tribes communities. You are currently engaged in an edit war over an obscure part of WP:REPCITE which itself at the top of the page says clearly it is not mandatory and does not have universal agreement. You are edit warring against WP:INTEGRITY#Keeping citations close which is a content guideline. It does say that it should either be followed or discussed if there is reason to not follow it. Please use the Talk: instead of edit warring. Invasive Spices (talk) 31 August 2022 (UTC)

@Invasive Spices: Don't come at me with accusations of edit warring. You could have opened this discussion up an entirely different way. Instead, you've chosen to do it in a way that comes across as not WP:AGF. Reverting your changes with valid reasons is not edit warring. ButlerBlog (talk) 13:08, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
Are you denying that you were edit warring? Invasive Spices (talk) 31 August 2022 (UTC)
Are you trying to escalate this to something that it doesn't need to be? ButlerBlog (talk) 13:19, 31 August 2022 (UTC)

Kikoriki

Greetings... I reverted your edits because of inconsistencies between the edit summary and the edits.. If you think I made a mistake, I'm open to a discussion. Thanks Volten001 16:51, 11 September 2022 (UTC)

@Volten001: Yes, you have made a mistake. The edit summary was invalid infobox param which is pretty clear. There is no such parameter in Template:Infobox television as "executive_producers" (with an "s"). The correct parameter is "executive_producer" (with no "s") - even when multiple people are listed. Invalid parameters are not displayed in the infobox, so it's important that the correct parameter be used. Additionally, pages with invalid parameters for the television infobox will ultimately end up in Category:Pages using infobox television with unknown parameters to be corrected (which is what led to this change). Your revert has already been changed by someone else (apparently for different reasons), and in so doing, they used the correct parameter, but please be aware that infobox parameters are specific to the infobox being used. Not all infoboxes have the same parameters and a valid parameter in one type of infobox (such as "film") may not necessarily be valid in another (such as "television"). Thanks for an extensive explanation which is now pretty clear. Many apologies for the reverts which I admit was a bit hasty on my side. I have reviewed them only to realise you were trying to correct the mistakes. And someone else as you mentioned corrected it all. Apologies again and happy editing Volten001 18:21, 11 September 2022 (UTC)

@Volten001: No worries. Glad you reached out. ButlerBlog (talk) 21:28, 11 September 2022 (UTC)

Truth

I see you undid my edit on Randy Weaver, does the truth hurt that bad? Dlehman96 (talk) 19:30, 9 September 2022 (UTC)

@Dlehman96: Wikipedia is only concerned with verifiability, not truth. Your personal opinion does not matter. We are not here to "right great wrongs" nor to report "truth" that is not verifiable in reliable sources. I would be happy to explain it to you if you truly are interested in participating in the project, but I'd wager that's not really why you're here. ButlerBlog (talk) 20:11, 9 September 2022 (UTC)

Concern regarding your ongoing AWB run

Hi, Butlerbog. Regarding your ongoing AWB run, removing redundant |name= params from {{infobox television}}, doesn't this violate WP:COSMETICBOT (inasmuch as that applies to humans)? Furthermore, don't those params provide a degree of forward compatibility if the page is moved to some title that the template can't figure out on its own? -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 12:32, 25 September 2022 (UTC)

@Tamzin: It's a cleanup of a Wikipedia:Wikiproject Television maintenance Category:Pages using infobox television with unnecessary name parameter. ButlerBlog (talk) 12:40, 25 September 2022 (UTC)
There was a discussion amongst various TV project editors on it as well, and I thought it was on the maintenance category talk, but evidently was somewhere else. I'll find that if you're interested. ButlerBlog (talk) 12:42, 25 September 2022 (UTC)
Hmm. To me that seems like a good way to remove params that are harmless as-is, and potentially useful in future scenarios depending on pagemoves or merges, but if there's consensus for it... 🤷 -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 12:43, 25 September 2022 (UTC)
@Tamzin: It's definitely a worthwhile exercise (for me) to go back and review what the process was/is and how we got here, so I went back and reviewed some of the discussions. The maintenance category has been in place since at least fall of last year (2021), and when we started on it, there were something like 40k entries or so, so it's something that's been being worked on for quite awhile since we're down to around 8k now. It has been discussed multiple times, usually for reasons similar to what you have mentioned, but the consensus always comes back to removing it, the most recent discussion (I think) being here: [1]. The fact is that per Template:Infobox television it is an optional parameter, and the preference of a number of editors in the TV project is that it not be included unless needed. Among the reasons given are that it is targeted by vandals, although I personally have not seen that to be the case. I'm just approaching it from the standpoint of working on the various TV maintenance categories. Hope that gives some color to it. ButlerBlog (talk) 18:35, 25 September 2022 (UTC)
