Etihad Airways edit

Hi, air candidate, and welcome to our skyworld!
Would you please watch the articles about this airline (which is not one like others for different reasons you could understand — or else I'll explain this point to you), as there is a dispute about suspect editors whose aim is not information but solely blatant advertising. I suspect them to be no enthusiasts but simply employees…
Could you help me watching this page before any deletion decision may be taken in the future?
Thanks forward from a specialised journalist and former Navy & CPL pilot. — Іван Коренюк ψ Ivan Korenyuk 11:10, 22 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Air Pampas edit

The speedy deleted AirPampas article you created has been userified at User:LeadSongDog/Air_Pampas. If you can help rescue it, please do. It's not clear to me but it seems there have been considerable political goings-on around nationalizing and privatizing airlines in Argentina, but my spanish isn't up to the task of working out what it's about.LeadSongDog come howl 13:59, 22 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Nottingham High School coat of arms edit

Gosh, is the school really using that version of the coat of arms now? They shouldn't be - it's not an accurate depiction of the arms granted by the College of Arms. The blackbirds should be on a white lozenge (diamond) on an ermine (white with black spots) background. (I expect some overpaid design consultant has been at it - that's usually what happens in these circumstances.) Would you object if we put the original (correct) one back? -- Nicholas Jackson (talk) 17:18, 12 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I don't know, I think there's a case for using the correct coat of arms - that is, the one described in the 1949 grant from the College of Arms ("Ermine, a lozenge argent charged with three blackbirds rising proper. On a chief gules, an open book, also proper, between two ducal coronets or") regardless of what the school currently happens to be using. (Actually, it's technically against the law to use incorrect arms, or ones you're not entitled to, but there's only been one successful prosecution in the last few hundred years in England; things are enforced rather more frequently and thoroughly in Scotland, which is a separate heraldic jurisdiction.) Perhaps if we had the correct, full coat of arms at the top of the article, and then put this horrid new abomination later on, together with a note that it's currently in use but is wrong. (Oh, a pedantic point: the correct term is "coat of arms" or "achievement"; the "crest" is the bit at the top, on top of the helm and wreath. In the school's case, it's our friend Tufty, described heraldically as "a squirrel sejant gules holding a ducal coronet or".) -- Nicholas Jackson (talk) 23:46, 12 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

OK, I've added a short section on the coat of arms - let me know what you think. Sorry to hear the leavers' thing got cancelled, but I'm impressed that some people went to the trouble of coming in fancy dress (the photo is a bit small, but I can make out Fred Flintstone, Batman and Rorschach). It's traditional, I think, for some of the leavers to do something a little over-the-top (in my last year (1991) someone put a scarf, sunglasses and a red nose on the war memorial statue) although sometimes these things get a bit out of hand. The Bridge Cup verse speaking performances used to be accompanied by a humorous sketch (the "gimmick"), usually making fun of at least a few of the teachers. One year, though (maybe 1989?), a couple of the houses went slightly too far and Dr Witcombe abolished it. -- Nicholas Jackson (talk) 21:59, 15 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

An exciting opportunity to get involved! edit

As a member of the Aviation WikiProject or one of its subprojects, you may be interested in testing your skills in the Aviation Contest! I created this contest, not to pit editor against editor, but to promote article improvement and project participation and camraderie. Hopefully you will agree with its usefulness. Sign up here, read up on the rules here, and discuss the contest here. The first round of the contest may not start until September 1st-unless a large number of editors signup and are ready to compete immediately! Since this contest is just beginning, please give feedback here, or let me know what you think on my talkpage. - Trevor MacInnis contribs 23:43, 21 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi there,

I would like to use your aerial photo of GCHQ in a multimedia project focusing on the history of Cryptology. This video will eventually be hosted on the web for public access. Would it be alright if I got your name to credit you in the video for use of this photo? i.e. "Photo by ___ ___"

Non-free rationale for File:CGI Airbus A320neo.png edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:CGI Airbus A320neo.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. 777 orders edit

Hi, I cant add this new order by PIA to the order list in List of Boeing 777 operators, it dosent show up. 116.71.10.71 (talk) 18:37, 5 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

I have identified where the problem is, you have only changed the sorting value, not the display value. I have not corrected it however as the order does not show up on Boeing's official order book yet. As soon as it does, it can be change. Bthebest (talk) 07:37, 14 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:CGI Airbus A320neo.png edit

Thanks for uploading File:CGI Airbus A320neo.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MilborneOne (talk) 15:41, 2 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:CGI Airbus A320neo.png edit

Thanks for uploading File:CGI Airbus A320neo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 19:07, 3 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
