Belgium cricket

Hi. Theres some good news about European cricket amid the Euros. Belgium has announced the rescheduled series against Malta and Austria taking place in July: [1]. Thanks. Human (talk) 11:18, 16 June 2021 (UTC)

@A Simple Human: Cool, thanks. We can sort those pages soon then. FYI, I was promised by Cricket Bulgaria and Romania that they will be announcing their quadrangular today (starts next week, involving Greece and Serbia). I am waiting for details to confirmed via email and then announced publicly. Bs1jac (talk) 11:21, 16 June 2021 (UTC)

Actually the Sofia T20I tournament probably won't be ready to publish until Monday or Tuesday (starts on Thursday!). Bs1jac (talk) 15:23, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
Morning! Just about to alert you to the Bulgarian tournament. Fixtures now live on Cricinfo. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:19, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
Cheers - I have a draft in my Sandbox with all the squads. Just waiting on Emerging Cricket to publish. Bs1jac (talk) 08:20, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
Interesting to see that a Romanian site has ripped off EC word for word already! Bs1jac (talk) 11:42, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
Morning! Just updated the T20I umpires page (thanks Simple Human) and noticed that in the 2021 Sofia Twenty20, Sudeep Thakur was both a player and an umpire in the tournament. I don't know if that's a first, or indeed if any sources picked up on that. Well, I found it interesting... :D Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:58, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
@Lugnuts: Yep that is correct. I added all the umpires for the Sofia tournament. The Bulgarian captaib had sent me the delegations before the tournament and noted that Romania had nominated a player as umpire... its a bit village. I also saw the umpire report for that game: He got a good report apart from delaying the game due to not having "long pants". Bs1jac (talk) 09:21, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
PS: I don't remember it happening in a series before, but Taranjeet Singh (player of the series in Sofia) previously umpired in the 2020 T20I Balkan Cup. Likewise Bulgaria's Aravinda de Silva. Bs1jac (talk) 09:29, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
Also, Stefan Nerandzic played T20Is for Serbia previously. Human (talk) 19:48, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

Is your kit in the car?

I assume you've heard the news from Canterbury? Might make for an interesting match summary. And last place secured I should imagine, although tomorrow's weather - the day I have a ticket for... - might help again. Blue Square Thing (talk) 09:37, 11 July 2021 (UTC)

Yeah was just reading this. Also remembered the game switched to Canterbury (Cricinfo still shows Beckenham). At least we have little to play for this week, having already flunked the championship and qualified for the t20 quarter finals. Bs1jac (talk) 09:43, 11 July 2021 (UTC)
It's also good prep work for the Royal London - I imagine most of the same players were going to be absent for that, other than Milnes and Logan perhaps. The prospect of a home quarter-final is reduced, which does have something of an impact I think. Blue Square Thing (talk) 09:49, 11 July 2021 (UTC)

Denmark cricket

Hi. A tour by the Swedish cricket team to Denmark in August been mentioned in this article by the Danish board. They will Netherlands but they wont play the Dutch team most probably. Im not sure if the matches with Sweden will have T20I status or not, as the matches with Norway last did not have T20I status. But lets hope for the best. Thanks Human (talk) 19:45, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

Good spot. Yeah I agree it will probably be Netherlands 'A'. Let's hope the Sweden games count though. Bs1jac (talk) 19:50, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
Sweden also announced a tour to Finland right after the Denmark tour: [2]. According to Czarsportz the matches in the two tours are T20Is: [3]. Human (talk) 00:38, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

czarsportz don't know, they assume status (have confirmed this with them). I asked the Danish board about Sweden yesterday and they said it has not been decided yet. Bs1jac (talk) 07:02, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

Also they say 2 T20Is v Denmark, but the Danes said 4 matches think. Definitely need more detail/confirmation, but sounds hopeful. Bs1jac (talk) 07:05, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

Yes. Czarsportz now changed it to only T30s in their article. But those matches do count towards T20I ranking just like Bahamian cricket team in Bermuda in 2019. Human (talk) 12:44, 15 July 2021 (UTC)
T30s would be an odd step :) Yep, although often they don't count e.g. 2 of the games between Guernsey and IoM last year specifically only counted as friendlies that did not affect rankings so both teams could (in theory) try youngsters. We need more info before we do anything, but let's hope. Bs1jac (talk) 12:46, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

Another tournament in September! [4] Human (talk) 00:31, 17 July 2021 (UTC)

yep we have known about this one for a couple of months. The guy at czarsportz tends to publish before anything has been officially confirmed though, so we need to wait for a second source at least. Shame no Turkey! Bs1jac (talk) 05:21, 17 July 2021 (UTC)

Romania cricket shared the czarsportz link. So I guess it is happening? Given how Turkey played last time, they might need some time to select players. Human (talk) 08:37, 17 July 2021 (UTC)

It is definitely happening, Romania told me in May. Need some clearer details from another independent source as czar is not reliable on its own (even though it is correct on this occassion). Turkey had visa issues last time so most of theit proper players couldnt travel. Bs1jac (talk) 08:50, 17 July 2021 (UTC)

Good call on the Dutch tour being the A team! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 12:09, 18 July 2021 (UTC)

I'll put this together later (Den-Swe) if it hasn't been done. Shamd they didnt mention the Finland games too! Bs1jac (talk) 12:13, 18 July 2021 (UTC)

@Lugnuts: I still think Denmark Sweden might be 4 matches, with 2 on each day, "...two T20 fixtures each on Saturday and Sunday. The matches are scheduled for 1000 and 1430." Bs1jac (talk) 12:38, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
Good research! I thought it was a bit odd just to play two matches, esp. in the current climate. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 12:39, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
@Lugnuts: Looks like the Denmark-Sweden and Finland-Sweden matches are intended as T20Is. Waiting on details from Finland. Also look like there might be some women's T20Is between Sweden and Norway coming up. I also heard rumours that Estonia are looking to get some T20Is this summer. Bs1jac (talk) 09:59, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the update - fingers crossed these go ahead. On a related note, great work on adding the Dutch women's squad for the matches against Ireland. Bit poor of the Dutch website to have that info burried in sub-section and not on their main page! Although it is there now... Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 10:47, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
Yes the tour to Finland would be T20Is. This link mentions there will be 3 T20Is in the Denmark tour. They have also released the squad. Human (talk) 03:51, 24 July 2021 (UTC)

ICC members

@Lugnuts: We are going to have to adjust the ICC members page. Good news as expected for Switzerland, plus Mongolia and Tajikistan (was hoping for Uzbekistan and Uruguay too). Shame Russia is suspended and Zambia expelled. Bs1jac (talk) 13:21, 18 July 2021 (UTC)

Didn't know about Russia, etc. Just been updating the page earlier. I dropped a note at WT:CRIC about the map update too. Thanks! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 13:22, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
I can do that. Bs1jac (talk) 13:24, 18 July 2021 (UTC)

Continental cup?/ German cricket team in Spain

Hi. Czech cricket apparently announced squad for the continental cup I meantioned before (And you probably knew about it before that): [5]. Human (talk) 17:05, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

Yeah thanks. Romania did tell me it would be that week, and czarsportz published something recently but that seemed a bit sketchy. I might put something together later if we think we have enough. Would be nice if Romania published a basic announcement! Bs1jac (talk) 17:13, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi @Bs1jac: Shouldn't this tournament be a part of 2021-22 season? Generally the summer season is being defined as the season for all the series Starting from 01-May to 31-August. Thanks,Vikram Maingi (talk) 16:10, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
Hi @Vikram maingi:. No. I did think about this, but as per previous discussions (and look at the main international season summaries) there is overlap in April and September, partly depending on location. September is very much considered part of the European summer season, and hence 2021 not 2021/22. Bs1jac (talk) 16:14, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
Ok. Thanks,Vikram Maingi (talk) 16:15, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
Hi @Bs1jac: Looking at the above logic, shouldn't the same logic be applicable on German cricket team in Spain. The beginning of September should be regarded as Spainish summer too. So, shouldn't it be a part of 2021 season instead of 2021-22 season? Thanks,Vikram Maingi (talk) 12:49, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
@Vikram maingi: I think so, yes, especially as the Challenge League in Jersey in September is also in the 2021 season. Was planning to wait until an article is created and consider again then. PS please dont create articles too early, and better not to create them as redirects either (e.g. the Portugal tournament)... just leave them without links on the season page until sources are available. Bs1jac (talk) 12:54, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

More series

Hi. Apart from the Portugal tournament you are already aware of, Rwanda announced a home T20I series against Ghana: [6]. Thanks. Human (talk) 21:10, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

@A Simple Human: Yeah Cricinfo told me about that earlier in the week but I hadn't seen an announcement yet. They also told me about Portugal... that one just has czarsports, so enough to add it to the summary but would like an announcement from one of the boards (or something like Cricket Europe) before starting the page. Bs1jac (talk) 21:14, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

@A Simple Human: PS: Hardly anything for so long, and now almost too much at once :) Bs1jac (talk) 21:16, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Portugal at last confirmed the tri series: [7]. Unfortunately, their Twitter handle and website arent active so this is all I found. Human (talk) 22:05, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
@A Simple Human: Hooray! I'll get this done in the morning if no-one has done it by then. Bs1jac (talk) 22:11, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
Hi! Hope you are well. I see that the women's T20 Africa qualifiers are gathering pace in terms of squads, prep, etc, but I can't see anything for the EAP region. Both are happening about the same time. Have you seen anything about squad selection, or indeed, if the EAP matches are going ahead as planned? Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 12:00, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
I haven't seen anything about qualifier fixtures yet, other than the two European squads. Have been pretty busy with the flurry of tournaments going on in August! I haven't heard that any qualifier are not happening, but also nothing from the ICC saying that they are. Surprised that the European women's fixtures haven't been released yet. Bs1jac (talk) 12:08, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
Thanks - just checking incase I'd missed something obvious! Yes, a bit odd there's no fixtures yet, seeing as teams are being confirmed for the Euro bit. Enjoy the August associate fun! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 12:12, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
Evening. Very interesting result in the last Ghana/Rwanda match! How odd. And incase you've not seen, the Challenge League scheduled to take place in Jersey has been moved to Hong Kong for December. Hopefully... Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 16:18, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
@Lugnuts: That was a mammoth weekend of associate cricket. So sad Gibraltar didn't quite pull off that massive run chase against Malta on Saturday. Think I need a couple of weeks off from live updates now. Women's Europe qualifier and Zimbabwe-Thailand women coming up, but you'll be all other those, so a convenient time to step back and just maintain the player lists etc. Back for the Continental Cup at the start of September! They keep coming though; just saw [this] from Czarsports. Three 50-over games between Uganda and Kenya, followed by a tri-series with Nigeria where they apparently play each other 4 times in the round-robin. Details are sketchy though and not backed up (as is often the case with Czarsports) so won't create anything yet. Bs1jac (talk) 21:27, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
In fact I have found where he got it from. I'll put the together after work tomorrow hopefully. Bs1jac (talk) 21:52, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
I love it when a series comes together! Great work as always :D Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 06:44, 23 August 2021 (UTC)
Rumours that the men's African sub regional pools might be redrawn, with Kenya and Nigeria possibly no longer having a bye. Cricket Kenya said in their post about the tri-series with Nigeria and Uganda that Uganda were preparing for the first of the two subregionals and that Kenya are expected to be in the second (of course they might have meant the finals). Expecting details from a Ugandan contact soon. Bs1jac (talk) 11:32, 23 August 2021 (UTC)

@Lugnuts: another odi series in Oman ahead of the CWCL2 events. PNG-USA. Bs1jac (talk) 23:14, 24 August 2021 (UTC)

Thats already on the ICC calender now. PNG seems to be playing back to back ODIs. That sounds exhausting. Meanwhile Hungary announced their squad for the Continental Cup: [8]. Their website isnt updated yet. Whether this squad is an official one or a 'Hungary XI' squad they sent out earlier is yet to be known. Human (talk) 00:40, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for all these updates - very much appreciated! So the two Oman series (round 6+7) have their fixtures on the ICC site, but as of typing this, still nothing actually announced by them! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:30, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
Sorry, me again! Bit of a bodge, but I've gone for the more pragmatic solution of one page for the PNG/Nepal/USA warm-up ODIs. Not a tri-series, as such, and with the PNG/Nep and PNG/USA fixtures overlapping on alt. days, it made sense. Well, to me, it did... :D Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:02, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
I was thinking the same way and hoped you might do it this way. A bit like this one, only with the added complication of being in neutral venue! Bs1jac (talk) 08:06, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
Great minds! Good job it wasn't in the UAE, otherwise it could be the longest tour title ever (PNG vs USA in the UAE...)! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:43, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
Morning! Sweden/Norway women is set to be a three-match series. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 09:30, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
I don't think that's correct though. According to the Norway website, it is 2 't20' games on the 28th followed by a T20I on the 29th. I asked Cricinfo about this and they said they had only been told about the one game. The guy at Czarsportz (who women's criczone took the info from) has said to me that he was basically not sure. I have put this on the season summary as one match only and don't think creating an article would be worthwhile unless it is in fact a series. Keeping an eye on it! Bs1jac (talk) 09:50, 26 August 2021 (UTC)

@Lugnuts: Hearing from a couple of good sources in the region that EAP qualifiers, men and women, will very probably be cancelled unfortunately. Waiting on decision on who goes through. Bs1jac (talk) 21:56, 26 August 2021 (UTC)

Morning! Yes, that was my gut feel, esp. with the women's EAP qualifier being on the same dates as the Africa one, and I could find nothing about squads, etc. And the U19 World Cup qual in that region was pulled a couple of days ago too. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 06:53, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
Ah shoot. Wouldve been great seeing the T20I debuts of Japan, South Korea, Indonesia etc. Human (talk) 06:56, 27 August 2021 (UTC)

Although the link doesnt mention Germany, the T20Is mentioned is most likely the Spain-Germany series. You can use it If you think it is enough or cannot find any other sources about the series. Human (talk) 08:32, 29 August 2021 (UTC)

Yeah that has been available for a while but as you say it doesn't really say anything. There will be some more info coming soon. Bs1jac (talk) 08:40, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
Czarsportz has created the report of the series: [9]. But I know what your response would be. Human (talk) 01:11, 1 September 2021 (UTC)

Will this series have T20I status matches (Mexico, Panama and Costa Rica)? I remember the matches in 2018 South American Women's Cricket Championship having WT20I status despite being held in Colombia, a non-ICC member. Human (talk) 01:27, 2 September 2021 (UTC)

Theoretically any games between Mexico, Panama and Costa Rica "Can" be T20Is regardless of the host country, so long as the venue has ICC accreditation, and the hosts actually apply for the tournament to have status. I'd be cautious about this one for now though just in case. Bs1jac (talk) 07:40, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
@A Simple Human: Hi - We have been in touch with Cricket Colombia and it seems that this tournament will not have ICC status unfortunately. Bs1jac (talk) 20:57, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
I see you removed the series from Associate international cricket in 2021–22. But doesnt the same apply to 2021 Baltic Cup you included in Associate international cricket in 2021? Human (talk) 01:49, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
@A Simple Human: The difference here is that the Baltic Cup is quite an established regional international event. Not enough info for a page, but felt it sits nicely on the season summary. For the Colombia event, it feels a bit less "official" at the moment. I think I did say in the edit note that we can put it back on the summary later when it is a bit clearer. My concern is that someone will create an article with minimal information, and result in page deletions. Bs1jac (talk) 07:37, 3 September 2021 (UTC)

Switzerland will be making their T20I debut already in October. Human (talk) 05:49, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

@A Simple Human: Thanks, I'll try to look into this one tomorrow. Have been busy with so much cricket going on today, and then was out this afternoon actually at some cricket! Was thinking the European season was over (I need a break!), but forgot that Malta often host events later in the year... good to see Switzerland involved so quickly. Bs1jac (talk) 21:08, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

Hi. Nigeria announced a T20I series against Sierra Leone before Africa qualifier group B: [10]. They usually update their website so we can wait. Human (talk) 20:27, 11 October 2021 (UTC)

That's good news if they are indeed T20Is, although there is almost too much going on this month! Yes let's wait until there is another source. Bs1jac (talk) 20:32, 11 October 2021 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

  The Teamwork Barnstar
For all the excellent teamwork around associate cricket. Thanks! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:31, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

Time zone

When I was mere reader, I looked into Wiki cricket articles. Often, I confused with timings, when to follow the match, when it happened bcoz of different time zones. Hereafter, at least all times are in local (utc+xxx). Just like that, can we add? Kirubar (talk) 14:01, 29 August 2021 (UTC)

We always use local time, so there is no need to add such a note. If you click the links to the scorecards, tournament home etc, that's your clarification on timings.Bs1jac (talk) 14:04, 29 August 2021 (UTC)

We know that we add local times regularly. As an average reader doesn't aware of times, for that only I'm asking. Anyway that's fine. I'll be at it. Thanks :-) Kirubar (talk) 14:06, 29 August 2021 (UTC)

Women's CWC 2022 Qualifier

hi, just a query. As ICC has granted permanent WODI and WTest status to all it's Full Members. so, in the qualifying tournament scheduled in November, will Zimbabwe women will make their WODI debut? Aditya tamhankar (talk) 17:56 IST 31st August 2021

I assume so, unless the status doesn't apply until a later date. Bs1jac (talk) 12:45, 31 August 2021 (UTC)

Steven Taylor

Hi Bs1jac - hope you are well. Thanks for spotting the captain info on Cricinfo. Seems a mystery who did captain! CricBuzz states it was Netravalkar, with the ICC stating Taylor. Curiously, USA Cricket just lists the squads on their match center! Will keep an eye on this and see what news comes out. On an unrelated note, I really hate the new freeze-pane thing on the Cricinfo scorecards, so when you scroll down the scorecard the header row is kept, but it takes up a ton of space. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 12:45, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

And now CI have changed it back to Netravalkar. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 13:08, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. OMG yes I hate that freeze-pane too! Way too big. Bs1jac (talk) 13:11, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
So it's not just me then. Maybe ask your CI contact to have a word! :D The ICC scorecard now has Netravalkar as captain. Phew. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 13:27, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

Cyprus T20I Tri-Series

Hey, according to recent Czarsportzauto website, Cyprus has announced a bilateral T20I tour by Estonia in October 2021 followed by a T20I Tri-Series between Cyprus, Estonia and Isle of Man.... More Cricket coming Aditya tamhankar (talk), 08:56 (IST), 14th September 2021 Aditya tamhankar (talk) 03:27, 14 September 2021 (UTC)

@Aditya tamhankar: Thanks for spotting this. We will need more information before we create anything, preferably from a reliable source such as one of the boards, but I will make a note of it and look into it later on. All I have found so far is a tweet from Estonia mentioning the tri-series (not the bilateral); I'll check Cyprus media in a bit. @A Simple Human: - this is good news if true... Cyprus and Estonia official debuts and IoM adding to their one game! Will suggest a single article covering both the bilateral and tri-series, a bit like currently going on in Uganda. Bs1jac (talk) 08:14, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
Although I can't even find the czarsportz article at the moment? Bs1jac (talk) 08:17, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
I noticed it and was about to inform you. Estonia confirmed this will take place: [11], although I didnt find any info about the bilateral one from the boards. Human (talk) 08:26, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
Yeah that's the Tweet I saw. have just found the Czarsports article. Definitely need to find the bilateral mentioned elsewhere first. Bs1jac (talk) 08:28, 14 September 2021 (UTC)

Also @Aditya tamhankar:, good job in replicating all the associate series in Marathi Wikipedia. I dont know the language and you did miss some but nevertheless good job. Human (talk) 08:40, 14 September 2021 (UTC)

@A Simple Human:, thanks a lot for appreciation. i started editing Marathi Wiki Articles since March 2017 and recently due to pandemic, I got enough time to cover all International Cricket Tours articles right from 1877 till date. Aditya tamhankar (talk) , 17:40 (IST), 14th September 2021

Women's T20I WC Africa Qualifier

So, Namibia and Uganda has advanced from Group B in the playoffs as expected. What are ur predictions who will Qualify for 2022 T20I World Cup Qualifier from Africa?? I strongly think Zimbabwe will go through. What are your views? @Lugnuts:, @A Simple Human: Aditya Tamhankar (talk) 15th September 2021, 20:52 IST Aditya tamhankar (talk) 15:23, 15 September 2021 (UTC)

Zimbabwe strong favourites from the start, and there haven't been any surprise results so far (arguably Namibia beating Uganda the only slight surprise). The thing is when only one team qualifies, you just never know. They only need to have one bad day. Bs1jac (talk) 15:26, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
@Aditya tamhankar: I have limited knowledge about women's cricket so I'll go with Zimbabwe. Tags dont work if you edit it separately after you posted your message. Also your signature needs fixing. Human (talk) 07:08, 16 September 2021 (UTC)
@Bs1jac: Namibia still have a chance to qualify through that one slot of highest ranked member who didnt topped the group?? Aditya Tamhankar (talk) 20th September 2021, 11:31 IST
@Aditya tamhankar: that place will almost certainly got to Ireland I assume. Namibia would also currently be behind Nepal/UAE from Asia, Samoa from EAP and Uganda and Tanzania on ranking (unless the place only goes to teams that finished second in their region). Bs1jac (talk) 08:05, 20 September 2021 (UTC)

Italy

Afternoon. Some surprises in the Italian squad for the regional finals. Hope Dernbach isn't chosen to bowl the death overs! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 12:00, 21 September 2021 (UTC)

Yes Dernbach certainly gets his share of ridicule from us in Kent. And not just because he was Surrey! Germany look strong too, I just noticed that Craig Meschede has come out of retirement. Bs1jac (talk) 12:42, 21 September 2021 (UTC)

Africa T20I WC qualifiers

hey, look at this [12], Africa sub-regional qualifier schedule is announced as per czarsports. Aditya tamhankar (talk) 12:28, 27 September 2021 (IST)

@Lugnuts: Morning - I have done the fixtures from Cricclubs for Africa group A. Would you mind doing Group B? Bs1jac (talk) 08:33, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
Looks like no Saint Helena unfortunately. Bs1jac (talk) 08:35, 27 September 2021 (UTC)

UAE

Morning! Thanks for your help with the Oman matches. On a related note, the UAE player Akif Raja has two profiles on Cricinfo:

Are you able to help with a merger on their side? Thanks again! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 09:43, 8 October 2021 (UTC)

Thanks. I have a few items for them to merge, and I try to save them up for a little batch to avoid annoying them constantly! Will send this one in a bit. Bs1jac (talk) 09:53, 8 October 2021 (UTC)

Americas

Evening! You probably know already, but just incase, there's been an update on dates/locations for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 17:27, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

I had missed that. Rumour was it was going to move, but I hadn't seen the news. Bs1jac (talk) 17:38, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

No problem! Bad news though, Group B of the Asia qualifier has been cancelled. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 14:34, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
Ah that's gutting. Another chance for China to make their debut gone! Myanmar too. I imagine the women's qualifier will be cancelled too given that it is in the same place about a week later. Bs1jac (talk) 14:36, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
Sad news about PNG not being able to play the qualifer. Are they likely to be replaced by another team (maybe Samoa from the EAP group), or do you think it'll drop down to nine teams? Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 17:19, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
I imagine there won't be time for another board to do a selection, arrange travel, do covid tests, etc, and for the players to get time off work. Unless a 'local' team is approached (maybe Uganda, Kenya, Botswana or Tanzania), but I doubt there will be a replacement. Bs1jac (talk) 17:58, 8 November 2021 (UTC)

MCC tour

The MCC will be playing two triangular t20 series in Spain next week, the first against Italy and Germany, the second against Austria and Spain. Germany's squad is about 75% full strength, but I suspect these Italy-Germany and Austria-Spain matches probably won't be T20Is. Bs1jac (talk) 23:13, 4 November 2021 (UTC)

@Lugnuts and A Simple Human: Apparently these will have T20I status according to MCC. Cricket Espana had previously said they would not and were to be used to try out players. I will try to create a page this evening, but may need to be completed retrospectively as Cricinfo understood that they were not official. Bs1jac (talk) 19:20, 12 November 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the info - maybe sandbox it for now, and see what happens! While I'm here, I've found a source for the Uganda team for the Africa final too. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 19:22, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
@Lugnuts: Yeah I'll sandbox it tonight if I have time. I noticed that you had tweaked the Uganda squad... thanks for that! Bs1jac (talk) 19:25, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
Kent have O'Riordan in the MCC squad but said that "Kent’s Grant Stewart will not be featuring for Italy in these matches, which are not classed as IT20s." So there is clearly some confusion here. Bs1jac (talk) 19:33, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
@Bs1jac and Lugnuts: Czarsports identify them as T20Is. I guess by "in these matches", they meant the matches against MCC only. Human (talk) 21:23, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
Maybe, but Spain have said that none of the matches carry official status and that they will trying out different players. Czarsportz as usual are only saying what he has seen on the MCC site, so cannot be relied upon (either Spain or MCC are wrong, and czar base everything on the source they read). As Lugnuts said, i think best to wait and see on this one. Happy to create something during the event if it turns out the matches are official. Bs1jac (talk) 21:28, 12 November 2021 (UTC)

Drafted and ready to go if the matches are confirmed as T20Is. Bs1jac (talk) 23:21, 12 November 2021 (UTC)

Cricinfo confirm that the ICC told them that all four nations agreed to revoke t20i status from these matches. Bs1jac (talk) 06:45, 13 November 2021 (UTC)

Sounds good to me - thanks for your work on this (as always)! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:26, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
I often forget Czarsportz is run by one person from India. Not very reliable but usually have all the news. Human (talk) 08:08, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
Yeah he trawls social media etc then repeats what he finds. Very useful for hearing about things we might have missed, but I always then look for the original source and try to apply some editorial critique (e.g. "when they say T20I, do they actually mean T20I"..."). Shame as I am quite pleased with the draft in my Sandbox! Bs1jac (talk) 11:52, 13 November 2021 (UTC)

Next round of T20 qualifiers!

@Lugnuts: First bit of news on the next round of T20 qualifiers (for 2024). Finland and Belgium get another shot at hosting European subregionals in 2022. I guess the regional finals would be in 2023. Probably too early to start any kind of page for 2024 qualification yet mind. Bs1jac (talk) 16:07, 24 November 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the info - good news for them to be hosting. The one thing the ICC has been good at, is announcing the full T20I qualification pathway, so once there's something more concrete, I'll set up the pages. Maybe a task for early in the new year! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 17:29, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
@Lugnuts: Here is the announcement for the 2022 Europe sub-regional qualifiers for 2024! Bs1jac (talk) 12:24, 16 December 2021 (UTC)
Hi! Hope you are well. Do you have any more info on this regarding the Commonwealth Games qualifier? Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 13:19, 9 December 2021 (UTC)
Sorry, have been taking a break from Wiki for a couple of days. I have not heard anything more than already known. The qualifier is supposed to be in the first quarter of 2022, but none of my contacts are sure exactly when/where it will be (currently penciled in for Malaysia but that is in question due to quarantine rules etc.), what format it will take or who will be in it. Assuming it happens at all! Bs1jac (talk) 20:35, 10 December 2021 (UTC)
No worries - hope everything is OK with you. Yes, I have my doubts on it taking place in Malaysia. And the ICC can always fall back on to its flawless ranking system intead! Take care. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 20:39, 10 December 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, let's just award the next T20 WC to England. We are top of the rankings after all! I'm fine thanks, just needed to take a break and do other things while the associates action quietens down. Bs1jac (talk) 20:45, 10 December 2021 (UTC)

Cambodia

Hi. Czarsports reports that Cambodia is hosting a 8 nation T20 tournament in March 2022: [13]. Some of the national teams are scheduled to participate but are the matches going to be T20Is? I have doubt as they might send unofficials squads. Thanks Human (talk) 15:48, 14 December 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. Would be great if they are T20Is, but I share your doubts at this point. Czarsportz tend to assume everything is T20I until told otherwise. As usual, let's keep an eye on it. Bs1jac (talk) 15:50, 14 December 2021 (UTC)
I notice they earlier announced this on Facebook back in October with 10 teams (including Brunei and Laos), so they already appear to be 2 down as it stands. Definitely wouldn't consider any of this reliable as yet. Not because of the sources, but because so much is subject to change (especially with Covid). Bs1jac (talk) 15:38, 15 December 2021 (UTC)
Brunei would've made their T20I debut along with Myanmar and Indonesia if they were still ICC member and the tournament had T20I status. Oh yeah and Croatia, Slovenia and Israel will make their debut in 2022 unless Omicron ruin things as you mentioned in above discussion. Human (talk) 11:37, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
Yeah the news last week from Europe was very exciting (to see every associate potentially involved; plus Estonia, Turkey and others playing an ICC pathway tournament for the first time). Just hope things are a lot better in this part of the world (and elsewhere) long before then. Bs1jac (talk) 12:21, 20 December 2021 (UTC)

Meanwhile, let's do a bit more from our sides, like updating player artcles etc. In case you don't know, the machine is destroyed for the time being. Human (talk) 17:15, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
