Scansafe

edit

The article Scansafe has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. -FisherQueen (Talk) 13:08, 29 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please tell me what edits I should make in order to make this entry successful.

I honestly don't think there's anything you should do. This subject doesn't seem to meet the notability guidelines. Where did you read about the subject? In a newspaper, or a magazine? Can you link to the article? That would be one of the several reliable sources that you'd need in order to show that the subject meets the notability guideline. -FisherQueen (Talk) 11:05, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm writing my thesis on Gartner's Magic Quadrant and have read articles about ScanSafe. There are other companies from the Magic Quadrant like Websense and SurfControl that have Wikipedia entries, and I'd like to to the same.

[1] Here is the article I referenced in my recent entry. If I link the references to this will it be accepted?

That's one; the guideline requires multiple sources. But that's a good start. Two more as strong, and you'll be ready to go to Deletion Review and ask the community to undelete the article so you can keep working on it. -FisherQueen (Talk) 12:32, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the advice. Will the two above links be acceptable?

That looks like a pretty strong argument for undeletion to me. Now go to Deletion review and request undeletion (the instructions are on that page), and include those three links in your request. -FisherQueen (Talk) 13:41, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Never mind; it's a strong enough reasoning that I've undeleted it myself. -FisherQueen (Talk) 13:41, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Many thanks for your help, I have made the recommended edits to the page.

Sorry, one more question... The title should be ScanSafe instead of Scansafe...Is there a way to change that?

There's a 'move' tab at the top of each article to use if the title is wrong... I went ahead and moved it for you. -FisherQueen (Talk) 14:40, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wonderful thanks very much!

No problem! -FisherQueen (Talk) 14:45, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

A Wiki editor called Jaranda has deleted my entry and has not given me any justifiable reason for doing so. Please help me resolve this issue as soon as possible.

Please remember that administrators are no employees of wikipedia, but editors as you and me. You can not expect Jaranda to be online all day, just to wait for our questions. Please be patient and wait for some days. I am sure, Jaranda will tell you the reasions of the deletion. --Thw1309 12:34, 19 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

{{helpme}} Thw1309, thanks for your advice. According to Jaranda's user page, he is giving up his wiki responsibilities. Please advise me one what to do as I have been waiting nearly a week to resolve this issue.

Hello. You should list the article at Wikipedia:Deletion review. I'll be gone for a few hours, but I'll check up on this when I get back. Cheers, WODUP 18:56, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hello again. I listed it for review at Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2007 September 23#ScanSafe. Cheers, WODUP 22:52, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks very much for your help!

Hello again. I ended the deletion review discussion. GRBerry makes good points. There could be an article, but because you're associated with ScanSafe, it's best to let someone else write the article. Your best bet would be to discuss it at Wikipedia:Drawing board or list it at Wikipedia:Requested articles. WODUP 06:20, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
