WNAX-FM

Hi Brian,

I notice you created the article on WNAX and various other radio related pages. I wonder if you have any more info about the station, no. of listeners, cross coverage in other media etc.? When creating a page its useful to include such info to verify it's notability other than it's own weblink. While established radio stations with a solid listener base are generally good for inclusion, WP is not an indiscriminate collection of information and it's important to make sure this is upheld. WNAX is probably one of the most significant radio stations in the mid-western part of the United States. WNAX is one of the oldest stations in the region; and, it is one of the best known radio stations in South Dakota. While WNAX certainly has a solid listener base (since its signal has a large "footprint"), I do see a problem with using the number of listeners as a primary criteria for determining whether or not a radio station should be included on Wikipedia. Areas like South Dakota tend to have a rather low population density; so, South Dakota radio stations would tend to have a lower number of listeners compared to radio stations on the east and west coasts of the United States. This creates a bias on Wikipedia which tends to favor the more densely populated coasts. South Dakota radio and TV stations can have a significant influence in the local region, even though the region has a lower population density. With that being said, I do appreciate your comments. Nehemiah G. Ordway

The House SAA website states that Ordway's name was Nathanial, not Nehemiah. Since the source of this article is not cited, can you please confirm one way or another. Thanks, Daysleeper47 14:12, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

I saw the reference to Nethanial Ordway on the House SAA website (and, I do believe the reference was to the same man); but, a Google search reveals a lot more search results for Nehemiah Ordway. There are numerous sources which list the man's first name as being "Nehemiah." However, I do appreciate your input.Brianhass (talk) 08:21, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

Ken Hirsch (South Dakota)

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Ken Hirsch (South Dakota), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. It was unfortunate that the article on Ken Hirsch was deleted. Ken Hirsch was an icon in South Dakota television broadcasting for three decades; and, he was a popular figure who served as an announcer at many local air shows. I realize that the Midwest is considered to be relatively unimportant to people from the east and west coasts; but, people in the Midwest do have their own local icons who are every bit as important to them as the regional icons on either of the coasts are to the people who live there. When articles like this are deleted, it creates the impression that the Midwest does not matter, that there is no place for anything from the Midwest on Wikipedia. Because of the sparse population density of the Midwest, people in that region lack the clout of the more densely populated coasts and tend to get outvoted. Brianhass (talk) 08:45, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

The Tanka Bar article was not intended to be spam. There are many other products which have Wikipedia articles. The Tanka Bar article was an honest effort to document a product which is made in South Dakota. It is unfortunate that the article was tagged for speedy deletion. Doctor Who page

Hi, this off topic for Wikipedia but there's been a spat on http://ianlevine.forumco.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2084&whichpage=3 about some of the information on your site regarding one of the episode recoverers who feels it portrays him unfavourably. Thank you for informing me of of the spat on Ian Levine's website. To the best of my knowledge, I never received the email from the episode recoverer who felt that my article depicted him unfavorably. The article was a research project, which I started on the internet in 1993; and, my sources were all cited. I would certainly be interested in hearing from the episode recoverer if he wished to contact me. I want to include all information in my article; so, any additional information which the recoverer could provide would be greatly appreciated. If you are in contact with the episode recoverer, please let him know that nothing personal was intended and that I hope there are no hard feelings.

On the subject of Ian Levine's website, the article you mentioned was unavailable to me for viewing; because, I am not a member of the website. I applied for membership more than once in 2011; but, I never received confirmation. Brianhass (talk) 08:32, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

No content in Category:Iowa television anchors
