License tagging for Image:161022.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:161022.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Eagles

edit

Hello - Nice additions to the Eagles page! Wanted to ask you if this stuff is coming from some source(s) that you can put up citations from - the article is light on footnotes. Also- it's helpful to other editors when there are a few words in edit summaries (you'll see the place for them right below the edit screen)- ao they can track changes. Finally - it looks like you've run into the wiki photopolice - when you upload pictures you have to indicate where you got them from (source), choose a license tag (if they are album covers, you would click on that, otherwise you have to come up with appropriate wording) and you need to indicate your "fair use rationale". They tend to be unforgiving on this - take a look at [1]] and [2] for the general approach. If you don't tag the pictures, they will certainly be deleted. Anyway - good to have you working on the article! If you haven't heard the BBC interview, I think you would enjoy it - it's available on MP3s at [3] - 10 segments, good quality. Pictures, summaries and citations

edit

Hi Brentgz- You haven't responded to the notes left here for you, so I am going to try again.

You need to properly tag the pictures you've uploaded or they will for certain be automatically deleted from the system and all the work you're doing in including them will be wasted, plus someone will have to go through the article to delete the dead tags. I didn't make the policy and I don't necessarily agree with it, but unfortunately it is the way it is.

As for edit summaries - it really would be helpful for the other people working on the page to be able to easily track changes - it takes maybe two seconds for you to add them, and others benefit. At least if you would edit by section (there are little "edit" buttons throughout the article) rather than use "edit this page", the section titles will be automatically transferred to the edit summaries which will help the other editors. You're adding some good material which is really appreciated, but as a collaborative effort others want to follow the changes.

And finally, I asked you above if you could provide citations when you are adding material - the article needs more footnoting overall and since you must be using sources of some kind to get these details, it would be great if you would reference those sources. It is difficult to go back and re-create them later on, so while you're editing is a good time to include them. If you need help in figuring out the reference system, or you don't have time to do it just ask - or post them on Talk: Eagles and someone will do it for you.

Thanks very much! -Tvoz | talk 00:28, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Eagles-new kid in town s.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Eagles-new kid in town s.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Strangerer (Talk) 20:18, 2 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:EaglesJamesDean.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:EaglesJamesDean.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:55, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Outlaw Man

edit

The article Outlaw Man has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Two line stub tagged as unreferenced since 2006. No assertion that the song ever charted; lacks separate notability from the album.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Durova412 04:58, 2 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Good Day in Hell

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
