Hello Blaerov. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Blaerov. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Blaerov|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. 331dot (talk) 09:18, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Blaerov, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Blaerov|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. 331dot (talk) 09:23, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

You still have not adequately responded or taken action to the inquiry regarding your appearance as an undisclosed paid editor. If you make any additional edits without complying, you may be blocked from editing. You have posted images of members of the band and claim them as your own work. It is difficult to believe that you can do this and have no relationship to the band. On this page, please describe your relationship with the band, now. 331dot (talk) 09:52, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your message.
I am not being paid or compensated in any way for my contributions or for posting images related to the band. My relationship with Storm Crows stems from my role as a curator of underground bands in Mexico. I am passionate about supporting the underground music scene and creating detailed notes and articles about bands that may not have received the recognition they deserve. Storm Crows, with 12 years of history, is one of these bands, and it surprises me that they do not yet have a Wikipedia page. I believe documenting their journey and music on Wikipedia is valuable to the wider community.
The images I uploaded are my own, taken as part of my personal photography collection, and were not created for any commercial purpose. My intention with these edits is purely to enhance the information available on Wikipedia for a band I’m passionate about and to contribute to the knowledge base of the community.
If further disclosure is necessary, I am happy to comply with Wikipedia's terms and ensure full transparency. Please let me know if there are any additional steps I need to take to clarify this matter.
Best regards,
Blaerov Blaerov (talk) 10:03, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
You claim to have personally created the logo of the band and own the copyright to it. Is that the case?
The images appear to be professionally taken, and the band posed for you. You are saying you did this for free? You suggest on your user page that you are a digital marketer. Are you saying you are a digital marketer, but you don't do work for the band? 331dot (talk) 10:06, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I would like to clarify the confusion regarding the band’s logo. The statement about me personally creating the logo is an error. The copyright for the logo belongs to the band, and I would be happy to correct the caption to properly attribute the copyright to them. If you could guide me on how to make this correction properly, I would greatly appreciate it.
Regarding the photos, yes, I took them myself, and I’m glad to hear they come across as professional! Photography is something I enjoy as a hobby in my free time, and I have no commercial involvement with the band for these images or my edits. As a digital marketer, my professional work is entirely separate from this. I am contributing to the band’s Wikipedia page out of personal passion for music and support for the underground scene, not as part of my professional activities.
and I find Wikipedia’s interface challenging to navigate. Once again, I appreciate your guidance and help in ensuring everything is in line with Wikipedia’s policies. Blaerov (talk) 10:18, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
As you did not create the logo of the band and are falsely claiming to hold the copyright to it, you must immediately(right now) go to Commons and request deletion of that image. Logos are not typically uploaded to Commons as they are generally copyrighted works. Logos may be uploaded to this Wikipedia locally under "fair use" rules, though that carries some restrictions(like being unable to be used in drafts).
Is there a particular reason you created your account in 2017 but didn't make a single edit until today? So I want to be clear- you are saying you are a digital marketer, but you aren't doing digital marketing for the band? If that's true, then you need to do a better job of separating your style of writing as a digital marketer from how you write on a neutrally worded encyclopedia. 331dot (talk) 10:21, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I want to clarify that I created the page and uploaded the logo in good faith, with the intention of helping the band gain visibility in a neutral and informative way. I have already requested the deletion of the logo from Commons, as I now understand the mistake I made regarding the copyright. I appreciate your guidance on the proper way to upload logos under "fair use," and I am actively looking into how to properly upload content that follows Wikipedia’s rules.
As for my account, I created it in 2017 likely because I noticed something that needed correcting on Wikipedia at the time, though I can't recall exactly what it was after all these years. Life got in the way, and I didn't contribute further until now.
Regarding my writing style, my professional background in marketing has trained me to write efficiently, which may sometimes come off as promotional. However, I am working hard to adapt to the neutral tone required by Wikipedia. Asking me to avoid this style completely is akin to asking a fish to fly—it's second nature to me, but I’m committed to improving and following the guidelines.
Lastly, this is my first article, and I want to emphasize that my current marketing work is unrelated to bands or music. I’m doing this purely out of passion because I now have more free time and enjoy supporting bands like Storm Crows by providing accurate information on platforms like Wikipedia.
Thank you for your understanding and support as I navigate these processes.
Blaerov Blaerov (talk) 11:22, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Okay, thank you. Diving right in to creating articles is the absolute most difficult task to attempt on Wikipedia. It is usually recommended to first gain experience and knowledge by editing existing articles for a time before attempting to write a new one.
Regarding the images you took, was the band aware that you were taking images to write a Wikipedia article? 331dot (talk) 11:27, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the advice. I understand that creating an article right away may not have been the easiest path, but I saw it as an opportunity to plant a seed. I’m aware that Wikipedia is collaborative, and I expect the article to evolve as others contribute. These bands exist in the present, but their future is uncertain, so I felt it was important to document them now.
Regarding the photos, they are mine, and I have full permission to use them as I see fit, whether in magazines or other media. I have many more photos of the band, but I specifically chose these for Wikipedia. The band has given me their consent for this use.
Thanks again for your guidance. Blaerov (talk) 11:45, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
The reason I ask is that if the band has done anything other than allow you to photograph them, such as giving input as to what you are writing, you would need to disclose a (unpaid) conflict of interest, see WP:COI. 331dot (talk) 12:23, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I want to clarify that the band has not influenced or provided input into what I am writing for their Wikipedia article. The content I have added is entirely based on publicly available information, my own research, and knowledge of their music, and it was created with the intention of being neutral and fact-based.
The photos I took were with the band’s permission, and I decided to use them for this article to visually support it. However, this does not affect my neutrality in writing the article. I am not being paid, and I have no professional relationship with the band beyond being a supporter of their work.
I will review Wikipedia’s COI guidelines and make sure I follow them correctly, and if there’s anything specific you think I should do to improve transparency, I’m happy to comply. Blaerov (talk) 12:35, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because your account is being used only for advertising or promotion.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  331dot (talk) 12:45, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry, I have no choice but to block your account. I see too many red flags here and find it impossible to believe you are a digital marketer for musicians as you claim on your user page(contradicting your statement on this page "I want to emphasize that my current marketing work is unrelated to bands or music") and you have access to this band to the point where they would allow you to take professional looking images of them in a staged setting(not random pictures at a concert by a random fan)- but you aren't doing digital marketing work for them. Even if that's 100% true, you are writing in a heavily promotional manner clearly showing you are a digital marketer and unable at this time to write as Wikipedia requires. If you can convince another admin to unblock you, they may do so without consulting me. 331dot (talk) 12:46, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Dear 331dot,
I am disappointed with your decision to block my account, which I believe is unjust and based on an incorrect interpretation of my intentions and actions. I want to address your concerns and clarify the situation:
I have been completely transparent: I have repeatedly stated that my digital marketing work is unrelated to this band or the music industry. My passion for supporting underground music scenes and bands like Storm Crows is strictly a personal endeavor, which I engage in during my free time, not as part of my professional work.
The images and content are mine: I have full permission to use the images, and yes, they were professionally taken by me, but this does not imply a professional, paid relationship with the band. I am a supporter of their music, and my interest in writing this article and providing images is purely voluntary. This is not uncommon for fans who are passionate about specific bands or artists.
I reject the claim that this is promotional: My goal in creating this article was to contribute to Wikipedia by documenting a band that I believe has a place in the alternative rock scene. While my writing style may have come across as promotional to you, I have always intended to maintain neutrality and accuracy. If you find specific sections of the article problematic, I am happy to work on improving them to meet Wikipedia’s standards.
This feels like harassment and bias: The repeated suggestions that I am engaging in improper activity feel like an unwarranted personal attack. I came to Wikipedia to contribute in good faith, but instead, I have been subjected to what I perceive as a biased and aggressive approach. I don’t see how you can conclude that I am incapable of following Wikipedia’s guidelines simply based on your assumptions.
I have no intention of conforming to a wrongful accusation. I am not violating Wikipedia’s policies, and I will not accept this decision without protest. This is a case of misunderstanding my intentions, and I am willing to defend my actions. If you are unwilling to reconsider your stance, I will seek the assistance of another administrator.
Sincerely,
Blaerov Blaerov (talk) 13:05, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
To question your actions is not a personal attack. Please follow the instructions provided to make an unblock request that another admin will review. If they don't see what I see, and/or you convince them to unblock you, they may do so without asking me. 331dot (talk) 13:06, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Questions that I have responded to, every single time, and I have complied with your requests in a respectful manner. Yet, instead of working with me, you chose to spend your time harassing me. Given this, I have no choice but to escalate the situation as well. Blaerov (talk) 13:15, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Once again, please make an unblock request as the instructions provide. If I am in error, another admin will unblock you. I will note another admin has deleted your draft. 331dot (talk) 13:19, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
This is my first day here, I’m older, and this is all in a foreign language for me. Once again, I have complied with all your requests and have made every effort to address your concerns. However, I now see that my draft has been deleted (I still have the code), which only reinforces my belief that this situation has been unfairly escalated. I will follow the steps to make an unblock request as you've suggested, but I want to make it clear that I feel my work has been unjustly targeted, which I will escalate. Blaerov (talk) 13:23, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
If another admin determines I was in error, I will gladly offer my sincere apologies. 331dot (talk) 13:26, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
And, though I could have deleted it myself, I simply tagged the draft for deletion so someone else will look at it. 331dot (talk) 13:07, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
A draft that took me all night to write, which is still unfinished and needs to go through a review process before posting, is now being tagged for deletion. To me, this feels like an unnecessary attack. It seems to come from a lack of understanding of the effort I’ve put into it and possibly some bias because this is a foreign band, and I myself am not from the US or UK.
I am simply trying to contribute to Wikipedia, and I feel my efforts are being dismissed without fair consideration. I would like to request that the draft be allowed to undergo the proper review process instead of being hastily flagged for deletion. Blaerov (talk) 13:12, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I don't know where you're from,(and I don't need to) nor is that particularly relevant. I'm also very aware that this is a global encyclopedia.
If the speedy deletion notice is removed by a reviewing admin, the review process can proceed(once you're unblocked) 331dot (talk) 13:14, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Storm Crows (Band)

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Storm Crows (Band), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. 331dot (talk) 12:49, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Dear Administrator,

I would like to sincerely ask for your reconsideration of the block placed on my account. This is my first day contributing to Wikipedia, and I’m still learning how everything works. I realize now that I may have made some mistakes in my approach, but I want to emphasize that I have been acting in good faith throughout this process.

I spent a lot of time writing a draft article about a band that I am passionate about, *Storm Crows*, and while my wording might have come off as promotional, that was never my intention. I’m not being paid for my contributions, and I’m simply trying to share my knowledge of this band in a way that helps others discover them. I fully understand the importance of neutrality on Wikipedia and am willing to make all the necessary adjustments to comply with the rules.

This experience has been a learning process for me, and I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to continue contributing, with more care and adherence to the guidelines. I ask for your understanding and a second chance to improve my work and follow the correct procedures.

Thank you for considering my request.

Sincerely,

    • Blaerov**

Dear Wikipedia Admins. I needed some time to think and reflect upon the block, and I would like to offer all a sincere apology. First of all, the reason I wanted to start things on Wikipedia was because I'm going through some personal issues myself, and I wanted a distraction that I thought could leave a mark. I like rock bands and pop culture in general, and there is much stuff that exists, is tangible, and that no one knows much about, mostly because it is there but does not have much exposition. I would like to personally apologize to admin "331dot"; he was only doing his job and making sure the system wasn’t abused, as I was the one that took it personally, because I was doing what I thought was ok, acting in good faith. The band I was writing about has no interest in what I do, neither do I gain from this. I only wanted to create an article that mentioned who they were, based on interviews and trajectory, not to promote them. I would also like to apologize to the other admins that refused my previous unblock requests, because they were doing their part as well, making sure Wikipedia can be trusted. I never wanted to mislead anyone. I only tried to write about a world that is out there and make a compilation of verified information in one place. At this point, I’m okay with whatever outcome the admins decide to take. As I mentioned before, I just want to write and fact-check about the subjects that I know. Thank you all and best regards. Per WP:BLANKING, you may not remove declined unblock requests for an active sitewide block from this page until the block is removed. You may remove other content, but not that. 331dot (talk) 10:24, 6 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

What edits do you wish to make, Blaerov? I would recommend that you stick to expanding existing articles, rather than creating new ones. An example of a great answer would be something like "I want to expand [link to article] using the following reliable source(s): [link(s) to reliable source(s)]." We have a list of sources considered reliable by the Wikipedia community for your convenience (as you would imagine, green is most reliable).
