Legal Threats

Please withdraw our BLOCK!!

Dear Situs, Forget about Legal for now, we are interested only in correction of the page. Some unknown source had misguided regarding fact of this page. So we wanted to revise this article and wanted to create better article. Being a Billava from caste, it injustice to accept these fact. Can you tell me the reason , why all contents are altered??? Earlier page was proper only, they lot of correction happened . So we need justification for that. So kindly co-operate with. We wanna work peacefully! Regards, Billava Business Unit

On User Talk:Sitush, you have made a legal threat against SItush and/or other editors. Wikipedia has a policy, which you can read at WP:NLT, forbidding legal threats--that is, you are welcome to pursue legal action against Wikipedia or any editors here, but if you do so, you cannot keep editing Wikipedia at the same time. Okay, I have unblocked you. What you need to do is go back to User Talk:Sitush, and say that you do not intend to pursue any criminal charges or other legal suits. Then, please go to Talk:Billava and discuss the changes you think should be made there. On Wikipedia, all of the information in articles needs to be verified by reliable sources (academic journal articles, books made by reliable publishers, etc.). Note that we can't just put whatever your group thinks/knows to be correct--readers need to be able to verify the information. I'm going to watch the discussion there to make sure everything progresses alright. If you need help, leave a message here and I'll see it. Finally, I'm going to add a "welcome" message below that gives you more links to our policies and other rules. Dear Qwyrxian, I just confused who is admin of wiki. Now i got clear idea, can get these justification: 1. Why our page " Billava" was altered recently and in a racial discrimination manner? 2. Who is holding control on page " Billava"?? 3. What proofs made you to alter those page?? 4. How can you help us in creating a good page " Billava" with proofs & its should not be altered by any XYZ! 5. Every day this page has been modified & we dont want such things to be happen in future!

I'll answer each of your questions:

"(Admins):There are about 1500 administrators on Wikipedia, of which I am one. Admins are just members of the community (all volunteers) who have been entrusted with a few extra abilities, like the ability to block users, protect pages from IP editors, etc. We have no special authority over the content of pages.

1. The page doesn't belong to you or anyone else. The whole point of Wikipedia is that anyone can edit (almost) any article at any time (there's a few restrictions on new editors). Thus, anyone can go to a page and make any changes. Now, changes are supposed to be made with reference to our various policies and rules. Sitush is an excellent editor, and it is highly likely that any changes he made were to improve the article to better meet our policies. One of the big things, like I mentioned before, is that Wikipedia pages are based on reliable sources, not just people's personal knowledge.
2. No one holds control on any pages. Even administrators have no special authority on article content--only on people's behavior. All issues on Wikipedia are decided by consensus, though there are restrictions based on our various rules.
3. The "proof" can be found in the article itself. I haven't looked at every single change that Sitush made, but most of what he does is remove unsourced information, or information that is connected to unreliable sources, and replaces it with good, sourced information. If you look in the article, you'll see a bunch of blue numbers. If you click on those, they'll take you to the reference list at the bottom of the page, which is where the information came from.
4. As I said, all articles can be edited by anyone. In fact, many articles are better edited by external people, since they are more likely to be neutral. While I'm not going to edit the article directly (doing so would mean that I can no longer act as an administrator on that article, and I'd rather play that role on that page), I will be happy to provide help on the article talk page, advising how our policies work. I'm also happy to work with you directly to answer any questions and help you get information into the right format and verified in the right way.
5. Sorry, but that's the way Wikipedia works. If you want a page that your group can control, you'll need to do so on your own website. Wikipedia is a collaborative encyclopedia project, with sets of rules about what can and cannot be in articles. If you are willing to work within those rules, you'll be able to contribute successfully to the article. If not, then, like I said, you'll need to make your own site somewhere else.

Dear Qwyrxian, Even I work as IT specialist,so I know to follow the rules and regulations. So i wanna prepare good article on "Billava" with followed rules & regulations of wiki. But what is the guarantee that " Sitush" wont change again?? So I need to talk to Sitush on this, So please provide his contact number. So I can discuss with him and I can write better article on "Billava". The present version of " Billava" is out dated & 100 years back shabby photos & racial discrimination photos has been uploaded. The contents which mentioned is not upto the standard. I have a great respect for wiki, so wiki should present good article not like racial discrimination article. SO please don't allow such things, it hurted me badly as I am a Billava and other people in my community also. So how can somebody write this "Billava" without knowing about real Billawas??? So we wanna deal this article peacefully & interested in preparing good article. Hope you will respect our feelings and do the need full for us.

First, two small formatting notes: never put spaces in at the start of a new line--the server interprets that in weird ways that make it impossible to read what is written. Second, after you post on an article talk page, please put 4 tildes (when you type, that looks like ~~~~ ). This will automatically sign your post and time stamp it.

Second, I don't have Sitush's "contact number". If I hadn't learned it from outside of Wikipedia, I wouldn't even know his real name--just like I don't know yours. Wikipedia allows editors to give as much or as little information about ourselves as we want; for example, I don't reveal my real name in Wikipedia, where I work, exactly where I live, etc. Nor do you ever have to do so.

However, there are multiple ways to talk to people. The first way you already found--by posting on Sitush's talk page ([[User Talk:Sitush}]). However, in this case, posting there isn't very helpful, because Sitush is not the only editor working on the Billava article. He's done most of the work recently, but any editor is allowed to edit that article, as I have mentioned. So, when you want to propose changes to articles, the best thing to do is to start a new section at the bottom of the article's talk page. In this case, that means you would go to Talk:Billava, click on the "New section" tab at the top, and make comments there. OF course, as I mentioned before, you need to do this after you register a new account. In all honesty, I should have indefinitely blocked you again and forced you to change your name (that's what our policies require), but I'm trying to be a little nicer here.

As for your last point, about knowing "Real Billawas"...well, this comes back to the earlier problem I mentioned. The thing is, even if Sitush went to India, lived with the Billawas for years, and learned all about them from first hand knowledge, he (nor anyone else) could not add that information to Wikipedia articles--because WP articles must be based on reliable sources, not personal knowledge. Thus, the way you can be most helpful is to provide some sources like that on the article's talk page. Full details on what a reliable source is can be found at WP:RS, but, as I mentioned before, look to high quality newspapers, academic journals, books by reliable publishers, etc. Unfortunately, because the reporting out of parts of India is not so good, sometimes this means that our information there is out of date. Thats why we do value local input, because you probably know of good sources to look at more readily than we do. The sources don't have to be available online, but the have to be reliable, and if they're not online you'll need to give enough info about the source for us to evaluate that, and what the sources say. Sorry, I just realized that there's a second problem. In your first message to Sitush, you mentioned that this account is for a group of people. Unfortunately, such accounts aren't allowed: each account must be used by only one person. I recommend that now you sign up for a new account, and use a name that is not associated with the Billawa Business Unit. Then come to User Talk:Qwyrxian with that new account, tell me about your new account, and I'll block this one so that you can operate from just the new account. Okay? Sorry, those are the rules. You can't edit as an organization; nor, in fact, can you edit on behalf of the organization--you need to make edits strictly as a single, private individual. You cannot promote your organizations interests, and since your organization is clearly closely connected with the subject matter of that article, you'll need to be extra careful that your edits follow all of our rules--especially important will be the rules requiring you are Neutral and verify the things you want to add.
