May need to address this upfront. The term "Naval Aviation" has always referred to both the USN, USMC and USCG as a whole since all three operate from ships. Might there be a better way to let the reader know that this is just about the USN? Maybe Aviation in the United States Navy or United States Navy aviation or something else to this effect?--Looper5920 (talk) 06:58, 9 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

OK, I'm fine with that. The sandbox title doesn't have to be the final article title anyway, so we can fix that when we go live. We can be a little more clear once we have some sources to cite for the best title. I appreciate the help on this. I'm not sure how comprehensive to make the article yet, as we do have a lot of related articles already. The history is covered in several articles, but not all in one place, so that should be a fair size here. While we probably can't list all the active squadrons because of length, the carrier air wings, major bases, ect, should be simpler to list here. I personally have a hard time using tables, so I "borrowed" the list fromn the US Naval Aviators article. Feel free to add a table for the aircraft list if you think its warranted at any point. -- BilCat (talk) 10:35, 9 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
I like the way it is done on the USMC aviation page where the concept is described but it does not have a list of all of them. I could see doing it for the A/C carriers and that is about it since they are the most visible aspect of naval aviation. All the other would be best with a link to a list. This will be a fairly high vis military article so I'd like to get it right before going public with it. We need to look at all of the listed below as well as doctrine, how specific needs led to the development of specific aircraft for the Navy, etc...--Looper5920 (talk) 16:43, 9 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
