Ben, I have no intention of being capricious or malicious. I have a fair amount of familiarity with the private equity market and have been trying to prevent these pages from becoming just a space for advertising, which has happened with unfortunate regularity in the past. Up until last month I was fighting vigorously to defend articles on Coller Capital and Lexington Partners as the broader wikipedia community saw these as merely as attempts at self promotion for firms that did not meet notability standards. I saw an IP address in Australia (202.147.136.214) add a reference to a relatively small firm in Australia that I could not find in any of the PE publications I subscribe to and I considered this to be be just another instance of self promotion. Wikipedia is intended to be an encyclopedia not a directory and although it is tempting to want to add some free publicity for their firm. Look at the following criteria:

I am not necessarily the final authority but if you can demonstrate that I am looking at this the wrong way and the broader ambitions of wikipedia are best served by including your revision then I will not stand in the way.Urbanrenewal (talk) 14:48, 12 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
