BEKIMON
Bekimon, Bern Josep M. Persia in real life was born on February 23, 1986 in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro to Cecille Persia and Ruel Persia. He has one sister, Hazel Persia, who is 6 years younger than him. He grew up from a humble family but he worked hard to get through life's adversities.
Bekimon's early years were spent in Puerto Galera where according to him, growing up was a big challenge. he was 12 years old when his family noticed the changes in his complexion and was later diagnosed that he has vitiligo. The same melanin condition that made Michael Jackson fair. According to Bekimon, fellow children would make fun of him and call him names such as "dalmation", "multo or ghost", "halimaw or monster" and many more. He suffered from inferiority complex as he was growing up as he felt that he was different from the rest. However, seeing the poverty that his family was going through, he was honed to be a responsible student in school. His greatest inspiration, his Mom, inspired him to finish his studies as it was his mother's dream to finish school but was not able to do so because of financial problems.
At a very young age, Bekimon may have realized that he can succeed in life. He persevered in studying and graduated class Valedictorian in Elementary and High School. He studied his primary and secondary education in Puerto Galera Academy.
Bekimon was 17 years old when he moved to Manila for college. Leaving his family in the province and facing his new life in Manila was hard for him especially during his early years of being independent. He went to Centro Escolar University and took up AB Mass Communication Major in Broadcasting where he graduated Cum Laude. Indeed, Bekimon was happy that he was able to fulfill the dreams of his mother.
Equppied with independence, intelligence and good heart, he succeeded in life. He tried several jobs before making it to the Philippine entertainment industry. He started as the Office Manager of Victo Rio modeling agency before he tried working in Convergys Philippines as a call center agent. He also worked as a technical support representative in SPI Global.
The Start of Bekimon
Darwin taylo, more popularly known as Junakis, is a film enthusiast and he was fond of taking videos of Bern. They were the best of friends. During the popularity of the jejemons in the philippine pop culture, Bern thought of making fun of their gay friends who talk in straight gay lingo. They made a video and the video was uploaded to the internet after a month. The very first bekimon video was uploaded to YouTube in June 29, 2010. Starting then, the Bekimon videos became viral on the internet and gained thousands of fans in bekimon's facebook fan page www.facebook.com/akosibekimon
