Self-taught philosopher edit

Thank you for your post at the Humanities Reference Desk. Unfortunately, I have had to remove it, as your question merely asks for opinions, and the Desks explicitly prohibiy those types of questions.

My opinion, since you've asked for opinions, would be "yes, but it makes you sound awfully pompous and pretentious". Go ahead and call yourself a philosopher if you like, the origins of your learning are irrelevant. If you fit the description of a philosopher at our article philosopher, your description of yourself would be justifiable.
